Just an observation, as much as people have made it seen that the sub continent is the grave yard for fast bowlers i disagree. For me, Australia is the ultimate proving ground for non-Australian fast bowlers.

No reason to believe Kapil or any other pace bowler for that matter didn’t engage into ball tampering.. What I am saying is just because they weren’t accused or caught doesn’t mean they didn’t do it..

Wasim used to swing new ball prodigiously as well, didn’t he? Hard to believe they were able to alter the ball in first three overs.

ftr I don't have an opinion either way on the ball tampering but a lot of people can swing the new ball, what was special about Wasim/Waqar/Imran was the reverse swing which would be heavily influenced by any alleged ball tampering

I believe Michael Holding once said 'I won't pretend like I never tampered with a ball'.

Ball tampering was rife in cricket in the 1980s, in particular lifting the seam.

I think for Australia is has to do with the quality of batsmen you are facing. But I think any fast bowler would prefer the Gabba to a Faislabad pitch.

Just sand and mud from the pitch and ground guys

The video below is enough for me to rate McGrath as the greatest ever fast bowler.

Tendulkar and Ganguly at their ODI primes, Laxman fresh from his 167, all of them got owned.

Indian bowlers before Zaheer Khan were clueless about reverse swing. Majority of them were military medium bowlers relying on seam movement except Kapil Dev and Manoj Prabhakar who relied on conventional swing.

Pakistani fast bowlers used to dislike the new ball as subcontinent weather does not aide conventional swing, and they developed the habit of tampering the ball in domestic games so that bowlers can have some say in the game, this was told by Rameez Raja.

I dont remember ever having seen anything like that before.

WTF kinda dark arts was he invoking to get the ball to move that way? I really cant understand why the (not new) ball was jagging off the deck on some deliveries. An older ball doesnt seam that hard. I cant see any cracks. And the speedo is saying he wasnt cutting it.

Ability wise, that self destructive **** Asif was right there with the ball movement. What an incredible waste.

Bowlers might prefer bowling Australia but their results say otherwise. Even in the 80s when Aussie batting was at its lowest ebb, fast bowlers tended to do better in Asia than Australia.

It was a new ball, and clearly a bit of moisture in the wicket. I don't think even McGrath would be getting that kind of jag off a completely flat wicket, though if anyone could it would be him.

Type Mohammed Asif and search.

Peak McGrath is someone having the audacity to take a single and him regard it as some sort of personal insult.
