He avgs just over 26 with a ball... not many of the current opening bowlers are better than that. Even in his own team Nortje is not as good stats wise.
I`m not saying he is the best available in the country, but for a man 8 matches into Test career not done a lot wrong. If I had my choice Nortje would not be playing either... but I`m also not gonna pretend that Nortje doesn't deserve his spot.
He has nice average but he doesn’t look threatening at all. His average is also getting worse.
Nortje deserves his spot there. He was better than Rabada the last few series. He is the best bowler for SA now. I’ll bring Dupavilion in place of Rabada.

Disagree... particularly on Rabada, who still bowls the most threatening spells for SA even if he has not recently taken as many wickets.

Why are people acting like rabada is terrible? He averages 23 still, and his "Bad" period has had him averaging 26, which is still better then both ngidi and nortje's career averages in test

Another thing, reading all the stories, I also think it says a lot about the management and selection of the team that we took 4 slow bowlers when all the indications are that we actually should have taken a few more pacers. I mean I struggle to believe that they could not have found that information out before arrival.
Saw the odd article which seemed to suggest SA expected low and slow surfaces which if true surprises me and it almost seemed like they were surprised that the pacers may have a significant part to play. Given conditions in the West Indies have favoured seamers for a while it surprised me!

Hyped to Sarel Erwee making his SA Test debut. Saw him play during the last HK Sixes where South Africa won.

I really like watching Nortje bowl. Looks just so menacing, but he does move the ball both ways.

This pitch is going to be fun for the pacers.

Incidentally I like the bravery of batting first. Jason would have never chosen to do that, but we will only develop of we learn to bat first and put some scores up.
