Lillee’s “Awful performances in WI and Sri Lanka” didn’t happen. He had one Test in West Indies with a stress fracture of the back. One Test in Sri Lanka where the spinners did the majority of the bowling and his figures were not especially bad. “Conveniently skipping tours of India” didn’t happen either. The only tour of India that Australia made during his career was during World Series and no Packer players were available. Not playing much in the Sub Continent might be a hole in his record, but Lillee detractors always choose to augment the reasons behind it.

A very similar defensive argument is seen when Shane Warne's crap performance against India is discussed. Very peciuliar stress fracture to co-incide with away tours to sub continent and caribbean.

Quite true. The 6 months he spent in bed with his entire upper torso in plaster hardly able to move was a ruse to avoid cricket tours.

So he had two stress fractures in 1973 and 1980 and was on a plaster cast on two different occasions? Wow, that is something.

Because Lillee was better than all these guys , so, with a fair sample, he'd be better anywhere. Der.
