*Official* New Zealand in England 2021

I don’t know, not backing your bowlers in this situation against this particular England lineup (Root the genuine threat of course) doesn’t seem like what a top test side would do. And Kane has declared and won in almost the exact same scenario before -3rd test against Pakistan in the UAE in 2018, more formidable batting lineup then.

People have been making declarations for captains since cricket began (even going back to the 70's and 80's that TH doesn't think should count). There's no reason to give England a sniff here.

What’s all this **** about using a test match series as preparation for some ****ing trinket. I’ll be deep in the cold ground before I recognise the ‘WTC’, whatever that is.
yesss. come to the dark side. where it's still the football league first division.

No Stokes, no Buttler. Who do you foresee playing a blinder to chase down this score at 5 rpo? Sometimes not giving a sniff can be as.much dogma as going for the win. There has to be a.middle ground of sorts.

Don't know if it was really. Azam and Ali (neither of whom were near the quality of Root at the time) were the only quality bats in that XI, and Pakistan probably had a worse tail. Also that was a day 5 pitch were the ball was really turning sharply. This is a much more placid surface by comparison.

The ball is both seaming and swinging all over the place, there's variable bounce and we have Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson. There is one proven batsman in England's lineup.

Seriously if we haven't declared after lunch we're basically just playing a warmup match.

We already aren't giving England a sniff. It's two slightly lengthened sessions. Declare ffs
