*Official* New Zealand in England 2021

yeah this helps england if they score about what nz did or close. anderson and broad go bang, england are in the box seat.
i actually think if anything it probably helps NZ. Bowlers get a day with their feet up, a bit of extra moisture in the pitch and Root and Burns have to start again. England’s middle order is inexperienced so there’s a chance to break through, bowl England out cheaply and set up a score for day 5. But either way it’s fairly unlikely.

I'd rather England play out of their skins and make our bowlers work hard. They did to our batters, Conway and Nicholls also had to work hard for their runs. Helps us build up for the WTC finals given chance of result in this test match now is not as high after it was two days into the test match.

Yep, pretty difficult to see an English win if there's going to be a result now. England will have to bat most of the rest of the day to get level. NZ would then have to get bowled out in under two sessions - no way that's ever going to happen.

England will be hoping that the moisture hasn't given the pitch a bit of life ...

Draw an 80% likelyhood, though.

will the ECB ban themselves for at least one test for being stupid enough not to have a social media security consultant for their players? because someone should really be sitting down with the players and educating them on their online presence and going through their history.
Nah, this is hindsight expertise. That might be a role now (**** the world that it is) but nah. It wasn’t apparent to cricket boards that they needed to screen the Twitter feeds of new players to see if they were racist 9 years ago (and the ‘***ist’ tweet is bollocks too)

Nah scrubbing your social media should be standard practice, unless the player is terminally online it literally takes a day or so.

^This. Would have taken 5 minutes of due dilligance and a tiny bit of internet savvy to google some hotbed terms (N-word, Muslim) against his @ and see that something was off. It's not like cancel culture isn't common knowledge. The head director for GOTG got fired for the exact same thing and made frontline news a few years back, and there's been plenty of other examples of it occuring.

is there any indication he might have been banned for refusing to do this?

actually, given the handling of the case it might as well be, theyve just chucked him under the bus now for their own failing to do the due diligence of checking his socials before the Test

Honestly? Interesting that I’d never heard of scrubbing social media history and or going over people’s feeds years back, yet we’re all so sure it’s a major failing the ECB should have seen coming.

It’s actually ok to say it’s an understandable mistake to learn from

I'm sure the ECB have a PR consultant, going through old social media posts would be one of the first things you do if you're worried about the image of your players

A lot here are assuming most cricketers are like Robinson. He's an outlier. No cricketer I know has similar history or even if they did I don't think they'd handy posted **** like Ollie has. No one can be that stupid.

Hope the weather is good for the next two days. Missed test cricket dearly last night.

How come they missed an entire day but haven’t started early? In NZ these days they seem to be able to play from 6am to midnight to make up time.

Extra overs are played at night in England because its light til so late in summer.

Conversely, it’s bleak and dark as **** by three in the arvo for the other nine months of the year.

Same in NZ (could play until 9pm at the height of summer), but surely they don’t have to wait until 11am for the sun to come up
