Strowman/Black/Lana/Riott/Murphy all released

Genuinely pretty shocked at Strowman.

Also firing Black's wife, then rehiring her, then firing him. So ****ed up.

Did they give Black a push before his release which makes it more crazy.

I think Braun a financial thing, he is on huge money and long contract and they may feel he has reached the peak of his drawing power. They have a pretty bloated roster who they use terribly so maybe the financial people had a word with Vince.

I also thought he was a lifer though so its a bit weird. Maybe they bring him back in a year or two on less money,,,but he is near 40 now so not even sure of that.

Murphy and Black are very good so thankfully they will be fine. Lana meh.

Riott does have something, but has she been poor since she returned due to injury?

Lana is a great manager, have always been baffled by her being used as a wrestler.
WWE should never have split her from Rusev. That initial run was $$$.

Reckon they could easily have turned them face together without changing the act too much and it'd have got over huge.

It was, but it ran its course. She's very talented as a character, but they've totally failed to develop her beyond the evil foreigner thing. That awful stuff with Ziggler still lingers in the mind. But yeah, as athlai mentioned, as a wrestler she's absolute pony. She's way better off out of the E anyway.

Strowman kind of surprising in a sense, but also not so much when you think about it. Bloke reminded me a bit of Test. Inserted repeatedly into major angles, but never really went anywhere. Was at the same level for years, and had become pretty stale. Had a run as a world champ, but this was totally forgettable, and there was obviously no appetite to put him there again, so where else was there to go for him? Imagine there might be behind the scenes issues behind this though.

Whatever it takes!!!

Yeah, we have not had a proper Macho Man - Elizabeth equation since them... This was the closest and they blew it.

I am sure there must be behind the curtain issues, @Teja. linked me to some of the stuff he had said when the pandemic started etc. It was all extreme cringe. But you are doing him a disservice comparing him to Test, I feel. Test was never over to the levels Braun was and has been IMO.

The Black release is the most odd I think, since they were giving him a strong push only weeks ago. I thought all his brooding pseudo-philosophical vignettes were absolutely crap mind you. Not his fault, just bad creative/scripting, I'm sure he was just doing his best with what he was given. Anyway, great result of him to be out of there imo. AEW should be careful about hiring all the WWE cuts, but they should take him in a heartbeat. He's awesome.

Test actually way better than Strowman on the whole imo. Much more talented in-ring anyway. Not really sure about overness.

Yeah, he was, but that lasted all of ten minutes. Not that Test was mega-over or anything, but I doubt either will be remembered as anything more than a flash in the pan in ten years or so.

I'm guessing someone smart saw the length of Strowman's deal and his salary and laughed. I'm sure he'll end up back there in a couple of years time

AEW should obviously go after Murphy and Riott. I would class Riott as the most surprising cut tbh

Yeah, not arguing about the in ring stuff especially since I have not watched much wrestling recently. But the "get these hands" phase he was insanely popular, dont think Test hit those peaks in terms of popularity.

WWE firing all their midcard women that are actually half decent is pretty funny tbh. If you aren't Sasha/Bayley or Naomi then you better be blonde with big **** or else no matter how solid you are in or out of the ring. You're getting fired.

Ruby would be a great pick up. More of that, less of the Paul Wights.
