Stumped!

JOJOXI

International Captain
Winton CC gave me a real drubbing over the weekend in a friendly development game. Have managed to pick up a young opening bat that can immediately do a job for the team, no real long term potential but can get me going for now. Importantly has a good stamina and fielding potential which was why I really wanted him. Managed to win the development game against the bot today hurray. Wk is a real issue, along with fielding in general. Dropped 6 catches in the first 10 overs 4 from wk. 11th over he missed a stumping. And then dropped a further 2 catches during the match. Deep breath and carry on. Problem is I also need to develop his batting. One problem at a time I suppose.

Query on stamina, do friendly games effect stamina and does low stamina effect performance in friendlies?
Apologies hadn't set the lineup and been a bit in and out for last 48-72 hours, a bit of a mess my lineup, my number 11 was my best bat, players like Chandrasekaran playing that I would have rested had I set XI

ZCC U22s will play Ashgrove Astronauts later today. Except them to put up a stronger showing than our youngest XI did in the last outing.

Tough times for the ZCC next gen tho. Got smashed by 140 runs in the Dev league yesterday. Valuable game time I suppose - overs in the legs of all the bowlers, time in the middle for all the batters.

FHK had a fun bot bash in the Dev League. Tiffany Yuen brought up her first ever 50 in any format, which is a good achievement for the 16 YO allrounder.

Oooh the trilogy match vs ataraXI is underway! In a spot of bother at 104/4 in 19 overs. Hopefully we can bat out our 50, need Qasim and Tony to bat long here.

In the belated final fixture in the OD series between me and FHK, I've managed to reduce them to 104-4 after 20 overs. The pitch looks a spinners' paradise, so FHK are still likely on top. Given they rate 55K - beating me by over 10K - I'm happy with my performance so far.

And a 5th wicket falls, great stuff.

yea need my lower-middle order to get stuck in and try to bat out as many overs as we can. Run rate is good but too many false shots so far. 67 wear on the pitch, geez.

Danial Ahsan has been stuck on 49* for 10 balls now. Just needs 1 more run for his first ever Senior cricket 50. You can feel the tension. ZCC currently 119/0 in 23 overs vs the Astronauts. Good start. Shahbaz Furqan the other opener, has already brought up his 50 and is looking set for a ton. Pitch is pretty flat, and with Raun and Zack to come in next things could get ugly.

Meanwhile FHK have pulled off a solid recovery effort. 116/6 to 175/7 with 5 and a half overs to go. Spavor with 34* off 73 balls. If we can get above 200 we should win this.

Could you believe it. After playing out 13 dot balls while on 49, Danial Ahsan nicks off again. This is the 3rd or 4th time he's been dismissed for 49 in senior cricket! The wait for that first 50 continues.

ZCC 132/1 in 25 overs. Furqan 70* off 73 and Raun Shkorer fresh to the crease.

Meanwhile FHK 178/7 with 3 overs to go. 22 runs for that 200 - can Spavor and Lai O Yin get us there?

Well FHK ended up 194-8. I'd like to think my batting lineup capable of chasing that down, but Lai O Yin will surely wreck havoc. Nevertheless, a strong opening stand, with my 3 premier bats still remaining unbeaten in my lineup.

Furqan was lbw for 88 (86), before Raun Shkorer and Zog Yslog (as I like to call him :p) hit 123* (65) and 124 (61) respectively. ZCC post 435-4...

Thought it might be overkill putting them both in against @Marcuss's boys!

FHK need some wickets vs ataraXIa asap.

Skipper Tin Yau with the bullet arm run-out! Nicky Clift out. Needed that.

lol another bullet arm run-out by Yau, this time of Shaffrey.

Murduch and Armstrong each with a boundary already. 53 needed in 84 balls with 5 wickets in hand. Tight game this.

Can somebody explain why this man is going for over $500 000?

Pong Nam is such a ****ing hero. That might be match-winning spell in conditions that are entirely unsuited to him. 5/25 in 10 overs.

43 potential bat, still young enough to get close to that. Bit of useful bowling, good stamina. Might be a side that's desperate for a young batter and willing to break the bank for one.

Is a 43 bat really that high? I mean 45-47 bat I could understand with the 48+ bats being rare and going for millions. Maybe if he had really good fielding I could understand. Anyway just surprised.

@cnerd123 promise last question for the day! Skill increases through coaching and playing, can they only increase at max rate of 1 point a week?

Not sure. I don't think there is a hard cap in that sense, but the max amount of training a player can get in a week through coaching + games means it's unlikely that anyone can increase more than 1 skill level in a week.

Maybe it's possible for a 16 YO on 0/20 to go up 2 skill levels with max IGT + coaching with a 20 skill coach.

Do you mind giving basic detail on how skill increases work (as best you can!)? Percentages increase etc, with regards to coaching and playing? What is the difference to skill increase between a 5 coach and a 20 coach? (other than the obvious!)

Also... if you coach a player for one day then swap him out for another does he lose that coaching? In effect do you need to start the coaching at the beginning of the week and keep it on to have an effect?

Sorry, apparently one questions breeds many more questions...

Don't know percentages, etc. as Rob (game dev) doesn't really share that data with us, but also because there are so many variables. Some basic mechanics are:

> The closer a player is to their potential, the slower they will train and the faster they will decline
> Younger players train faster and decline slower
> Players decline when they don't play or get coached, regardless of their age. The rate until the age of 24/25 is apparently negligible, then it really picks up. This applies to bowling speed to - your seamers get slower if they aren't bowling or working on pace.
> When you coach a player in a skill, the benefit they gain is offset slightly by losses in the skills they are not coaching in. Training Attack takes away from Defense, training Movement takes away from Variation, training L&L takes away from Pace, and vice versa. I think Training Shot Selection takes away slightly from both Attack and Defense, but not sure. The net result of a coaching session is always a positive, regardless of the skill level of the coach.
> All skills are not linear in terms of effectiveness. Going from 4 to 5 is a bigger jump compared to 13 to 14. This applies to coaches ability as well.
> Coaching only kicks in during Thursday coaching updates. Whatever you have set then is what gets trained. You can change it over the week, it has no effect. The game just sees what's set when it is time to run the update. Think of it as a single net session on a Thursday.
> The In-Game Training amounts vary by Division (higher Divisions offer more training), with Dev games offering more training than OD, which offers more than T20s.
> Bowling 1 over = receiving 50% of IGT on offer. Each over after that has diminishing returns, and bowling the full quota of overs = 100% of IGT.
> Batting even just 1 ball gets you 100% of the batting IGT on offer. Batting longer doesn't help. Not batting = 0 IGT.
> Being on the field for even 1 ball gets you 100% of the fielding IGT on offer. That means all 22 players get 100% of the fielding/wicketkeeping IGT regardless of how the game goes.
> Apparently the amount of IGT a player can get in a week is capped, to the point where playing them in 2 games is usually 'sufficient' - but the jury is out on this. Best advice is still to give your best prospects as much game time as possible.
> Similarly the rate of decline is such that a 25+ year old playing 2 games a week should be able to maintain his skills into his 30s. But if they're only playing 1 game a week the decline becomes more noticeable.
