New Zealand will always be too in love with the low-IQ individuals who "give it a good nudge" to ever sincerely start throwing the spinners a bone like England has, let's face it. Too many Josh Clarksons would kick up a stink about how you've effectively just neutered their whole livelihood.

You don’t understand why after spending a month stuck in the middle of a public health catastrophe he’d want to spend a week with his family?
Yeah. This.

He has two young (boys?) or at least kids, who I don't know when he last saw. Travelling in and out of Ghostbuster suits can't make it any easier. Trent is an absolute consumate professional, who wouldn't take missing any cricket, let alone a Test at Lord's lightly. I guess it wouldn't be ideal if he wasn't ready for the second Test, but if he is I have no issues at all.

Yes as the very coddled son of millionaires myself, I'd like to make it clear to those proletariat types like Hutt Rec that there are no hardships and heartaches that we (the elites) plan to be leading from the front on, over the next five decades or so of austerity that's probably in store for you.

There really is no harm avoidance or self-enriching tendency that another thousand litres of jet fuel can't fix.

Can you say this in shorter words please. ❓

On a sidenote there's barely been any rain in UK so far and you can expect dry pitches. There's been a lot of media coverage of Ravindra on black caps site. I'm guessing he's got to be ready to play.

Santner or Ajaz need to be ready too by the looks of it. Doesn't matter who they play but we'll have to play a spinner.

Young has a few county games under his belt and I'd ahead of Conway in the test queue in selectors eyes, if Rosco is a no show he gets a go first ide say

This would be my preference for the Lords test match.

The only possible change BCs can opt for is playing Rachin at no.6 instead of Ajaz just to lengthen the batting. Just get a feeling that's an outside chance given the amount of media coverage he's getting at the moment.

Still quite early to call the playing XI, depends lots of the weather during the test match, how dry the surface is, outcome of the warm up matches, how's been hitting the ball well, who's been bowling well etc... The top 5 is fixed no matter what and Jamieson, Southee and Wagner are as well... BJ will also play. Pretty much leaves with two spots to play around.

Don't rule out Santner taking the allrounder spinner spot. Perhaps he and Ravindra get 1 test each? They need to give both a run as we might want a spin option in the WTC final.

Perhaps similar with Mitchell and de Grandhomme? Mitchell 1st test and then let de Grandhomme prove fitness in 2nd test. The most in-form allrounder seamer will probably have #7 spot in the WTC final unless the pitch is very brown.

Will be an interesting selection choice it Taylor isn't fit for the 1st test. Stead's comments at squad selection implied that Conway was likely to be in the WTC final playing XI, obviously as an opener, so I would hope he also opens in 1st and 2nd test. So Nicholls moves to #4, and I suspect they will play both Mitchell (#5) and de Grandhomme (#7). Or both allrounder spinners if de Grandhomme is not fit. Blundell unlucky but I think Stead and Kane will have the WTC final as highest priority.

(I am assuming all IPL players except Boult will be available for the 1st test).

Yeah for some reason Santner didn't even register. Surely he'll be preferred. He had a good game vs Pakistan last time he played.
