Lol can't call Bevan a passenger when he isn't required to bat

In 2 WC SFs, '96 and '99, he played match saving knocks

I would like to hear opinion of more NZ fans about this(2019 vs 2015 F).
However I would prefer a one sided thrashing anyday over a close loss in 1 match.
completely different feelings tbh. frustration and disdain towards the most jammy theft of all time in 2019, and crushing disappointment in 2015 that began this generations mental block against doing better than your average bangladeshi against australia.

i felt hyped after the 2019 loss tbh because everything went right for england and they still only scraped a tie, so i was just impatient for nz to play them again. after the aus one i was like "well, cricket sucks and so do we".

I think there is a difference between how you feel about the defeat and how you feel about the match itself. Initially, it is definitely very tough to get over a close loss but over time, the close loss seems so much better than the thrashing.

CSK's IPL final losses to MI in 2015 and 2019 are a good example of this, for me.

The thing about thrashing is you don't even watch half of the game. So you don't remember anything.

For eg. In 2015 WC SF vs Aus , I stopped watching after Rohit got out. Whereas I watched 2019 SF vs NZ till the end. So it is difficult to forget things you watched vs things you didn't even watch mid way.

Remember watching it in an Aussie bar in Edinburgh. Was asked by a reasonably attractive young lass to join her and her friends after the match, but needed to get back to work. Continued my long-term efforts at being ****ing useless around women.

Nah I am the hopeless guy who watches full games.

TBH, the 2019 WC was a big example of why we don't have to impose the "T20 way" in everything else. The match was tied, and the cup should have been shared, both teams were neck-to-neck throughout the game and it's rare when the result does justice to the performance of both sides. A lot of times luck becomes a crucial factor in these close games, in the WC final, the match was a tie and so was the super over, but we wanted to derive a result just for the heck of it. It was pathetic IMO. A WC final win gets decided on the count of boundaries, and everyone has already forgotten about it, don't know if that shitty rule is still around or has been changed.

We've lost three finals. The one in 1979 was disappointing but we weren't in it from about two thirds of the way through the Windies innings and they were a great side. The other two were more disappointing because we had periods of being on top and were generally in contention for most of the match. The 2019 final was unique in that the losers put in a consistent and controlled performance that was undone by a freakish incident that was incorrectly officiated upon. I would assume that was a unique combination of extreme disappointment and anger that would have lead to the contemplation of destruction of crockery.
I don't agree with the idea of sharing a trophy. I'd rather lose.

1987 final: England was well on their way until the Gatting sweep and Daffy kept hitting sixes.
1992 final: England were on top for 40 overs of the Pakistan's innings and in reply, they were out of it much of the way through, only the partnership between Lamb and Fairbrother got them back into the game.

2019 final: New Zealand was on top for most in my opinion, then England fought back. England slumped to 88-4 and it took a brilliant 110 partnership to bring them back into the game and the rest is just the stuff of dreams as England fought and fought and it looked like New Zealand would have won if Boult held onto that catch when 22 was needed off 9 and for those infamous overthrows.

22 off nine it is New Zealand's game to lose. For sure it was a very imposing task even in today's standards, back in 1990s, 22 off 1.3 overs and that is game over.
