Very good. Did you read the same interview in the Guardian that I just read, or did you know the answer anyway?
I knew it anyway. Though it's a fact that I hadn't given much thought to since I learned of it in 1987 when it came up during a feature on the TOTP appearance of Hoddle and Waddle.

International breaks are pretty bad. I've been reduced to watching Forest Green vs Bolton, which describing as 'turgid' would be kind.
This maybe controversial from a supporter of a team that will always be lower-league, but honestly if I didn't have a ridiculously invested love in my club, I just don't get why you'd watch the rubbish in division 3 or 4.

It's poor to watch on TV, it's poorly officiated, it's often on poor pitches, it's just poor. No crowds makes it poorer.

Oh going there is a different matter there's an atmos created by fans and the tension and the fun of the live experience like watching a live band, not got that now though. otherwise I've not watched any of it this Saturday, checked the scores religiously, but watch it, nah, will watch good teams when they're back next week, whilst my heart will still be with what Exeter are doing.

Next week the big boys won't be playing when the lower leagues are as the EFL matches are on Good Friday with no Premier League matches taking place.

I would mostly agree with this I guess, though I have watched quite a few League 2 matches over the years that were quite decent to watch. You're not wrong about the officiating though.

The officiating is poor but compared to the conference....
Good point that too.

I just find they ruin any joy in most matches by playing it safe, stopping flows of matches, even teams that are trying to play football, can easily be shithoused, because refs seem oblivious to their tactics.

It's why when the media that just occasionally look up from their cognacs and cigars at lower-league clubs, lavish praise on the likes of the Cowley brothers and Gareth (oh he's so rock and roll, he wears a leather jacket) Ainsworth. It's why so far they've done **** all in a the Championship where refs are slightly less ****. Yeah unfair on Wycombe who with their budget never had a sniff, but I don't like 'em much.

You kinda have to watch the matches they're involved in, in the flesh, to see they niggle and time-waste from the very first ball to disrupt other teams and refs never do anything about it, it's so depressing, and their success is of course making every other team play like it. There was a stage about 10 years ago where a lot of lower league teams seemed to have progressive managers and wanted to play a bit of football, I thought we were being dragged away from this mindset, but we're right back there now. Ryan Lowe is a lucky twattish git as well, but that maybe biased.

Yet as soon as the gates open properly, I'll be back,

Lincoln are the Wycombe of League One this season. They seem to have been found out recently, though that could be down to injuries as well. They are horrible and referees fall for it. They've had three joke penalties against us this season and numerous others where their player manufactures contact. Last season Wycombe had faltered a bit I think and were 8th, but games in hand put them 3rd on PPG.
The jury is still out on Ryan Lowe. Two asterisk promotions and this season has been odd. There's been 6 and 5 match losing streaks but good runs enough to be in mid table. He likes to play a pressing possession game and play out from the back, but very few goals come from it.

Yeah going to lower league games is great but watching on tv is dire.
I think other than a few Arsenal games during the invincibles era the most fun I've had at live football was with Pothas at Griffin Park when Brentford were in League 1/2. The matches were usually objectively terrible but there was always just a sense of fun and randomness about everything that made it so enjoyable.
