Astounds me how conservative India can be with their selections at times. As an onlooker from the UK, is it purely bias in favour of some players/politics?

It is heart breaking as an Indian fan. We know we can put up a solid T20 team but there is lot of internal politics in Indian cricket. Tewatia is also gun leg spinning A/R. Dhawan never was a T20 player & kohli is getting worse day by day.
Kishan & Suryakumar are much needed.

yup but we fans have witnessed this in T20 WC 16 & WC 19.. Unsettled line ups one after another. I won't give a damn about this series if we would lose with young names rather than going with same TTFs.

On the game itself, I was stuck in meetings till about midnight so basically had to catch the game in mute. England came in with really good plans and surprised India. But their batsmen definitely looked pretty frenetic against spin. India are trying out a new approach to their batting and it will take time, and we will have to eat some losses. But I like the direction the team says they are looking to go in and I feel we will get better with more games. Calling India to take the series inspite of what happened yesterday.

Hard to read into that bowling performance too much given the low total they were defending. Some of the sixes were borderline too, could've easily been out.
Pretty much all the LO games we lose these days are because the top order fails. Once Rohit swaps with Dhawan we should be much better off, even if we don't end up beating England who're just a quality outfit.

Obv he's trolling, everyone playing for England right now is rightfully English.
Having said that, Stokes was born in NZ and Morgan literally played for Ireland before England poached him. Even Sam Curran represented Zimbabwe U13s.

No surprises the current line up would get walloped in a crunch Semi against a strong T20 team like WI again. Failing to reach above par score & get crashed out. Entire approach is wrong.
