*Official* Sri Lanka’s Tour of the West Indies-2021- All Format

Love Hasaranga and Dananjaya, proper spinners that put real revs on the ball.

Sri Lanka played that perfectly. I feel that to beat us they have to bat first and get at least par, before letting the spinners to do their thing.

Can't help but feel that was seriously brain dead batting from us. The pitch was so slow and yet the six or nothing approach was all we brought to the table. If Sri Lanka win the toss in the next match I fancy them to win.

Also, I'd play Hety over Simmons any day. He has to come back in and let Gayle open.

Much to the delight of everyone here, Nissanka's been added to the test squad.

Having watched the highlights I must say that Hasaranga sure has the celebrappeal down pat. Barely even bothers looking at the umpire.

For the match today I’ll make two changes: Fletcher in for Gayle; Hosein in for Sinclair. Fletcher takes the gloves.

1. Simmons
2. Lewis
3. Fletcher (wk)
4. Pooran
5. Pollard
6. Holder
7. Allen
9. Hosein
10. Fidel
11. McCoy

SL win the toss and therefore the series IMHO. Expecting another tricky surface tonight.

I'm not sure about Fletcher against spin tbh.. would back Gayle more.

1 - 2 was OK the way it looked in 1st game. Mathes and Chandimal has to go ASAP and replaced by Dasun Shanaka and DDS. Ashen Bandara is promising other than for dropping Holder in game 1.

I actually feel sorry for Sri Lanka. They fought so hard in the field and their spinners were so impressive. Feels like a lost opportunity for them, those conditions were basically the best chance for them to best us.

I think if they had a little more power in the batting they would have won the series.

I hope we have a plan for tackling Hasaranga in the ODI's. Otherwise it will be painful!

Mathews and Chandimal are too slow for T20s. Thissara Perera is over the hill. Unless we play on a quick pitch, and keeping as well, Chandimal has no place in T20 side. Ditto in 50 over game. However we do have some batting power left at home, and not selected due to various reasons.

A squad of Dhanushka Gunathilaka, KJP, Niroshan Dikwella+, DDS, Dasun Shanaka*, Ashen Bandara, Kamindu Mendis, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dhananjaya Lakshan, Akila Dhanajaya, Dushmantha Chameera plus Oshada Fernando, Lakshan Sandakan, Lahiru Kumara and Kasun Rajitha would be a good starting squad. This will have far more fire power than current one, especially with KJP and Dasun Shanaka.

Hope Bhanuka Rajapakshe can get in to shape. He has quite a repertoire of strokes, without being a big hitter.

It was a very entertaining series I must say. I enjoyed it even though the West Indies chases were not good for my blood pressure.

It was actually really informative for our T20 side moving forward as the fine tuning process starts. There were a number of pluses in the bowling and fielding, with Fabian Allen, Obed Mcoy and Jason Holder particularly impressive. I'm not convinced by Lendl Simmons and I'm also not sure Gayle should automatically be starting. As it stands, I see the first choice team for the World Cup as:

Evin Lewis
Chris Gayle (Lendl Simmons if worried about left/right combo)
Shimron Hetmeyer (has to come back in)
Nicholas Pooran (wk)
Kieron Pollard
Andre Russell
Jason Holder
Fabian Allen
Dwayne Bravo
Sunil Narine
Obed McCoy

Reserves
Lendl Simmons/Chris Gayle
Rovman Powell
Fidel Edwards
Kevin Sinclair
Andre Fletcher (back up WK)

Didn't gayle just have one of his best ever ipls after looking finished the entire year before? He didn't get picked in last years hundred draw because he looked so bad. Started ok the bench for the first few ipl games and his team kept losing so they bought him in and he almost got them to the finals along with kl Rahul. This was only 5 months ago or so. He isn't done he has just had 3 low ipl scores.
His fielding on the other hand is completely shot lol
