Not sure Tye is quicker than Jhye but he's got a good batsman rattling short ball. He's concentrating on pace more than change ups now and looks less predictable and better too. Jhye's about the 135 - 145k mark. At the lower end in the tests I've seen him play and the upper end in limited overs cricket. Meredith is very quick but lost his place in FC cricket this season. Stanlake's fitness seems to be a problem for his FC cricket and when he has played hasn't been effective. Lost his form in limited overs too but recently had a good match. Nathan Ellis would be close to selection too.Jhye richardson is very good indeed, will be a world class bowler but i think his pace is overhyped by the commentators....its like the english commentators always harping on about saqib mahmood being this pace demon but everytime i watch him bowl he's high 130's LOL. I've seen jhye bowl 144 or 145 like a couple times but that's it. He's definitely not a genuine out and out quick like how the commentary teams present him to be. Hell I've seen boult bowl 144 or 145 a few times, I guess he's a pace demon too. Now Riley Meredith though, he's a legitimate out n out quick. Also, andrew tye bowls heat too these days. He's been bowling quicker than jhye.
Agree. Was saying it all through the tournament as well. Perth Scorchers had their whole top 3 overseas players, batting at least 10-12 overs most games just themselves. Not exactly helping the local players develop. There are definite concerns with this Australian squad. Finch is hopelessly out of form, Wade is questionable as an opener, Maxwell can be very hit and miss and the middle order looks vulnerable with Marsh too high at #4. It was a bold move bringing Agar straight in after an injury forced lay-off while Kane Richardson looked mediocre.
The Big Bash, as entertaining as it was, had too many imports (of various quality) and this could have been to the detriment of locals.
I can understand CA sticking with the original squad when the South African Test tour fell through but the T20 squad needs to find some form ... and quickly.
He pinged Bert in a Futures match a couple of years back. Had to retire hurt on 99 with concussion. Not sure Tye is quicker than Jhye but he's got a good batsman rattling short ball.
Issue is I don't see how were going to get the Conway wicket, bloke has made 60+ in 5 consecutive T20 innings without being dismissed at all.wouldnt be worried if i were aussid. half these dudes are second xi. they were a conwsy wicket away from a much lower total.
Don't think anyone's worried, but an Aus 2nd XI should still be able to beat NZwouldnt be worried if i were aussid. half these dudes are second xi. they were a conwsy wicket away from a much lower total.
Is it a second XI though? The main changes in the top 6 from the side which featured 2019-20 season when NZ hosted England and India are the additions of Conway and Phillips at the expense of Munro and Taylor. That said, I agree the batting needs to be better as a unit - Conway/Williamson aside the others tend to give their wicket away too easily. Santner at no.7 is a luxury.wouldnt be worried if i were aussid. half these dudes are second xi. they were a conwsy wicket away from a much lower total.
Aussie's the second XI, not us.Is it a second XI though? Don't know if it's been already said, but if ever there was the perfect case for the argument that great sportspeople do not necessarily make good commentators, Suzie Bates would be it.
NZ could still pick a pretty gun side with all the13 players from this current T20 squad missing:Don't think anyone's worried, but an Aus 2nd XI should still be able to beat NZ
Maybe Rachin Ravindra as well to give more spinNZ could still pick a pretty gun side with all the13 players from this current T20 squad missing:
Allen, Munro, Young, Blundell, Taylor, CDG, Mitchell, Bracewell/Kugglelijn, Milne, Somerville, Ferguson
He did hit one down fine leg's throat early, tbf. Problem was fine leg rushed in. A botched catch at fine leg away from possibly totally thumping full strength kiwi lineup.Issue is I don't see how were going to get the Conway wicket, bloke has made 60+ in 5 consecutive T20 innings without being dismissed at all.
Erm what? Starc, Cummins, Meredith, Tye, Stanlake and Pattinson when they’re fit plus probably a few others that I’ve forgotten.Biggest surprise of all is we have 140+ bowlers galore at the moment. Take out the likes of Southee, Boult and Jamieson we still have like 5-6 bowlers that hurl at 140+. The Aussies have no 140+ bowlers other than maybe a couple in their second XI? Tables have turned or what. In the past we used to have maybe one or at most 2 140+ bowlers and the rest bowling military medium. I must admit I don't follow Aussie domestic so wouldn't know.
Probably add Jhye Richardson under certain circumstances. Don't know how quick Liam Guthrie and Matthew Perry are.Erm what? Starc, Cummins, Meredith, Tye, Stanlake and Pattinson when they’re fit plus probably a few others that I’ve forgotten.
And for NZ the only guys who are consistently 140+ are still Ferguson and Milne. Kuggs is usually 137-144. Sears recorded similar numbers in the SS final.
