Not really. Ashwin's 100 was one of the best ever on Chennai given the conditions and the state India were in at 106/6 in the 2nd dig. They could've folded up for 310-315 target which with a couple of cameos like that of Moeen would've have made the chase interesting. Couldve put some pressure eon debutant Axar as well.

Ashwin just ensured 4th innings was absolutely out of English reach. The English batsmen had really nothing but nets practise to look forward to.
Have to disagree on this one. Ashwin's knock was classy but the game was already up by then. England don't suddenly score 250 runs more in the 4th innings if Ashwin scores 60 less.

Ashwin put his boot down on England's throat, but it was Rohit who'd pummelled them to the floor.

So if Match referee rates this pitch poor then 3 WTC points will be deducted and India will have to win both remaining test then.
I didnt know this was an actual rule. Sounds a bit weird to dock points for pitch preparation? Doing it for over-rates is dumb enough but this feels even stupider.

Heh, Ashwin taking 8 wickets in itself is like scoring a century and a half century in the same test match. And add to that a 100 in the most difficult of conditions.

Rohit 100 was excellent but he got the best of the pitch - first two hours, in which he made 80 odd or so. Not taking away anything from the knock but it is just senseless to even put that against the performance from Ashwin.

Ashwin gets 0 and India still win by 100+ runs.
if this was a planned deprature, the ****s in media using the headline that mo 'chose to go home' is ****ing disgraceful when it has been different for others leaving
If this was a planned departure, it makes no sense. Drop a young player for a bloke to play 1 test. Now what? Try and convince Bess he was rested?

And unlike over rates this is left to one man's assessment of the pitch.

And lol people even debating this pitch, after India scoring nearly 300 in 2nd innings

On the contrary, if Eng were chasing 310, I am sure a couple of them would have been given the permission to give it a go like Moeen did.

Indians had to win this match remember.
