*Official* 2nd Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, 13 - 17 Feb 2021

It's so unfair on Leach to be constantly compared to Ashwin in these conditions. I mean this is his first series in India and he is already improving and proving to be a threat. He is only 29 with much potential to grow. And all we keep hearing is how they won't get any freebies from Ashwin when he gets hit for the boundary.

He used to open/bat 3 for Mumbai for a long time. And once he made it to the national side, he hardly ever plays domestic again. But it is not like he was always this bad. He seemed to make a LOT of adjustments to be this LO batsman circa 2015 which has let him down in this format, I feel. He always used to be a nervy starter and used to play lots of shots to get runs initially but since his ODI #4 batting attempts, he seems to have loosened his technique a bit and therefore those shots get him out a lot more often than they used to.

He still looks great once he is set, on any track, really.
He also had a fantastic A team record on overseas tours iirc

Nevermind, I see it.

“You can’t compare Leech and Ashwin”. You literally can. Also when the other commentator bringing out Axar Patel’s first match too, to which the reply is that Axar “grew up in these conditions” as if full tosses are a reasonable delivery where Leech plays.

Sundar’s natural line would waste help from this pitch. We did so well due to Axar and Ashwin maintaining pressure.
Yeah Kuldeep's the one who might have not been needed, but that's very much a hindsight call. We all would've bitched and moaned if he wasn't selected again. Then again, Kohli seemed to trust Axar a lot more from the start, so he was very likely selected as the "fifth bowler".

tbh if we get another turner, i'd play ash and axar plus pandya for his batting/fielding

he is like pant and a player who can quickly end a game on these pitches with the bat

I would have so settled for chasing 330 and being bowled out for 190. Chasing more than that is just a piss take.

England have only had 3 bad sessions in this game. Don't think they deserve to be driven into the dust.
