Root has set decent fields to Moeen to ensure atleast some of his bad balls dont find the gap. Saved atleast 15-20 runs today.

eng need to have root, foakes and stokes at their best with a bat to get close

how did rahane get to this level if he's so meme against spin? domestic tracks globally are usually less forgiving than test decks.

i get the pitch is hard to bat on but you can't count england out...this is a fighting side and they have stokes...

He used to open/bat 3 for Mumbai for a long time. And once he made it to the national side, he hardly ever plays domestic again. But it is not like he was always this bad. He seemed to make a LOT of adjustments to be this LO batsman circa 2015 which has let him down in this format, I feel. He always used to be a nervy starter and used to play lots of shots to get runs initially but since his ODI #4 batting attempts, he seems to have loosened his technique a bit and therefore those shots get him out a lot more often than they used to.

He still looks great once he is set, on any track, really.

Looks like I chose the wrong hour to sit out haha.

Fair play to England. At least this way it gets the torture over with more quickly. And a good sign for the final 2 games.

Not sure if preparing more turners is a safe bet this series. Eng been outplayed here but they're quick learners and they have a few players now in Root, Foakes, and Leach that look like they can thrive in these conditions.
England do too much homework and have too many backroom staff to not learn and adapt quickly to conditions, unless its conditions where they have no weapons, like Australia at times. Our best bet is to go for variety in pitches and let them stay true to their normal state as much as possible, which both these pitches so far have been.

Remember the article about the debut groundsman who was preparing the wickets at Chepauk? He clearly said one wicket will be fully red soil and the other will use the black soil on top with red soil below holding it together. Both have played pretty much how I expect these tracks to play at this time of the year. Hope it is the same in Ahmedabad.

beautiful over Mo
I don't see any realistic chance of England chasing this. This game is pretty much in India's bag.
I think we all knew that around lunch yesterday. Still a terrific fightback though by England and will put them in better stead for the rest of the series.
