It's looking very easy now; these two are batting beautifully and the pitch looks dead as a dodo. Such a shame that Pope's instinctive attempt to run out Pujara missed the stumps, as it's the only chance I've seen since the 4th wicket fell. Bess is bowling well though.

My impression was that England traditionally don't prep very well for away series and usually get thrashed in the 1st test.
Not since the Cook era. If they do get thrashed, it is because the other team just played better and their players overall needed more time to acclimatize or whatever. But they are easily the best prepped team for away test tours right now.
