maybe we should start rotating Kohli/Rahane as captains on a home/away basis and let Pant be a regular in the middle order. Then we can field a proper keeper.

Wondering about Nadeem's prowess with the bat if Bumrah is batting ahead of him?

Please, India has thrived on having bad keepers for the past 20 years. Hell the only thing Dhoni ever did of note was succumbing to the English crowds and recalling Bell like a simp.

It's such a trite cliche when commentators claim that spinners "don't mind" batsmen going after them when they have runs on the board. They perhaps "don't mind it" when it happens a couple of times, especially if interspersed with a few false shots along the way, but 2-3 clean hit sixes within a short time frame and for most it very rapidly gets in their head.

MSD was a really good keeper to spin tho. Didn't miss much and lighting quick stumpings. Also handled runouts pretty well.

England will bat again no matter what. Why risk a resurgent Indian 2nd innings that saves the game and puts more miles in their bowlers' legs? Let Archer and Anderson put their feet up for 2-3 more sessions, have a hit, then try to bowl India out for the win. And if it's still a draw, at least you've not broken your bowlers while putting extra work into India's.

Eh he was much better than pant but he wasn't amazing or anything. Missed his fair share of catches.
i don't remember him dropping much vs spin. Pace sure. Struggled with the late swing in places like England too, I remember him flat out refusing to try for some balls going down leg. But he was more than serviceable keeper at home.

Or maybe not. what do I know. hard to remember anything these days.
