England should persist with 1-2 fielders close in in catching positions on the leg side. If the ball starts to tail in it'll become a useful position, dont think India used it enough.

Think when Shubman Gill is playing against your team he is going to be one of those players who you desperately want to see the back of.....but not before you’ve seen him bat for a couple of hours!

Whatever it takes!!!
Do you genuinely believe this?

In any case it was a lighthearted comment. I think you need to stop calling posts you disagree with 'stupid' and 'idiotic' all the time.
Lol... lighthearted or not, it was stupid. And yeah, he does play the reverse sweep well and is somehow better at it than his basic defence. And he is being pragmatic when he plays that, coz it gives him better chance of survival and scoring runs.

And I think you need to stop trying so hard to be funny. And please point me to what I called "idiotic" recently.

With every chance Pant misses, the pressure on Rahane to perform increases exponentially because Pant will be primarily competing for his spot in the batting order if playing as a specialist batsman due to not being sustainable as a keeper.

It's harder to make Pant an opener apart from as a short term fix but if Rahane and Pant are performing well with the bat and Rohit is absolutely shitting the bed like he has so far, you never know. Then again Mayank is a beast at home as an opener as well.

The next ten or so tests this year will be interesting. Will be an absolute conspirational meltdown on Indian twitter/ICF is Kohli (justifiably) drops either Pant or Rahane in one of the tests coming up this series. Can't wait.

Pant's issue right now, more than technique, is his mindset. He does not seem calm or relaxed enough to keep to the spinners at home. Stability is so much more crucial when keeping to spinners than to seamers. MSD was so so awesome at this that sometimes you forgot how little he dived around to the seamers. And that stability really only comes when you are calm in your mind. I have had games at a thousand levels lower where I kept poorly when I had others things raciing in my mind, including the 2 games that I captained. I dunno if he a needs a wicket keeping coach as much as he may need some kind of meditation coach or something. His movement is a little too frantic and all over the place and he can't keep still for a few fractions of seconds that you need to, when keeping to a spinner.

Reckon our seamers didn't bowl hard enough into the wicket? They were getting it to zip through too but mostly at a fuller length. Archer and now Stokes extracting some life out of this paataa pitch.

Well I don't think you play both Jadeja and Ashwin away. If you're talking home and you want to go with two spinners, I would do Jadeja, Ashwin, Ishant and Bumrah.
Ashwin has a bad back. Both Ishant and Bumrah have had stress injuries recently. Playing those 4 with no better 5th bowling option than Rohit on a 450-500 par pitch at home has the potential to be very ugly.

Wtf Gill

This is what happens when Rohit Sharma is in the XI. The softness rubs off onto the others

Come on, cnerd. But yeah, Archer shows what he can do. I agree we need 5 bowlers here for sure, and I think the issue really was we never not in top form on day 1 and that is what set us back.

Yes that’s a soft one from Gill, looked a million dollars to that point that just chips it tamely to Jimmy who completes a lovely diving catch! Archer doing the job again!

Loving watching Archer, good pace and exploiting the pitch with heavy length. Hitting the stickers and gloves even on this pitch. Advantage of having the height and the pace.
