Jesus that was one of the worst hoicks I've seen since Gabriel batting for a draw

Shame they rotated broad and Anderson this series. How many more wickets could they have taken without this policy the last few years

Even worse I think, Gabriel had to play and didn't trust his defence with men around the bat, Perera could have just left it.
That is a good point really, saw something similar somewhere a while back. The hoick may have looked horrid, but Gabriel clearly didn't have any faith in his own defence, and judging from other innings I have seen he had half a point. Terrible execution sure, but I can understand the thought process.

As a walking wicket of a tailender myself, I can relate

Gabriel didnt need to touch it, it was two feet outside off
Wider then I remembered it being at the time having just re wached but it could have been the googly on a final day pitch - I think it's more understandable if a more painful blow then that shot just now

This is complete armchair psychology but even when SL had weak teams in the past they had a proud home record and seemed to be much harder to beat. This lot seem like they don't particularly care since they've got used to losing at home over the years.

this SL side doesn't seem to care because selections don't seem to be based on form or domestic performances, their domestic FC structure is a mess, and a lot of them probably earn more from gigs outside of playing for SL

Sri Lankan FC stats increasingly are meaningless considering the amount of players with meh records that look better than that, and the FC guns that have looked out of their depth at the top level

Hence why Asitha Fernando intrigues me, young, decently fast, posesses a great FC record. Generally most SL seamers are one out of those three tops

I think Lahiru has turned a corner. Hopefully he can drag his career average up to 30 before he retires.
