Yeah I love him too for the same reasons. Nicholls, Karunaratne and Elgar all making runs recently was a good time for me

Used to be NZers for a long time but over last few years they have dialled up their performances atleast at home, so can't talk of them anymore.
Bavuma is a good one. I always wish he scores a 100 whenever I see him bat.
I used to feel same for Lyon till this series, where off pitch stories and his **** attitude on ground has definitely let me lose a lot of respect for him. Although with 400 wickets , he probably is in Harbhajan class of players who punched it above their ability.
Used to like Paine a lot especially when he took over. The Pant Paine episode was a throw back to a more innocent age but apparently captaincy has changed him as well.
Thakur and Sundar have been two players who have really made it worthwhile rooting for the underdogs. Both however have shown potential to be a lot better than what they are now.
Among erstwhile players, I used to be absolutely bonkers about Dwayne Smith back in the old days.

Loved marlon samuels. So ****ing elegant. And in 2012 he was genuinely amazing in all formats. Scored a crazy good ton against NZ. Smacked boult around like he was a club bowler.

As a kid, was a massive fan of Manoj Prabhakar, Carl Hooper, Graeme Hick, Michael Slater, Adam Parore, Jonty Rhodes.... A veritable who's who of international mediocrity in their main disciplines.

Never saw him drop a catch. Ever. He bombed Warne in the ODIs ahead of the 95 test series over there then when the test came he kept getting run out or chipping one in the air off Steve Waugh, unless my memory fails me.
He was such a weird player. If you watched him bat you’d think he was an absolute all timer. Then he’d just get out.

Was the most irritating thing. Just think of how good a middle order of Lara, a potential realizing Hooper, Chanderpaul would have been at 3,4 and 5. Felt Phil Simmons wasted a lot of potential too and could have been a long term opener for Windies.
