Surprised Abbas got dropped. I do think he's kind of done, but given Naseem was rightly dropped too and there's not a lot of depth there I'm kinda of surprised they actually went through with it, especially if their solution was to pick Haris Rauf.

So according to the presser, Abbas was dropped because his 'gameplans' and bowling strategies were found out in NZ, and so they want him to go back and work on a few things before returning. Naeem is apparently injured. Haris Rauf was picked because they couldn't find anyone else in Pak domestix who could bowl really face, with reverse swing, and a godo bouncer. Rauf has the raw materials so joins the squad.
They talk about Shafique also, I didn't watch that bit, but I reckon it's a straightforward wonderkid scenario. Young gun who has impressed right off the bat in domestic stuff and so they're elevating him straight away. If he ends up warming the bench rather than playing domestic cricket it would be a waste.

Tabish probably should have got a game ten years ago.
He bowls skiddy inswingers but he is (or at least was the last time I saw footage of him bowling like five years ago) a fair bit quicker than Abbas. Looked mid 130s.

Wouldn't have been a bad late round selection but his dire 2019 QeA tourament probably rightly turned people off.

Parchi is more along the lines of an order from a higher up that x must play. It's nepotism usually with a threat of an ouster if orders are not followed. I think he was trying to convey that he is willing to be accountable for all the selections. Probably the best way to answer such a loaded question tbh.

I don't they we will play Imran. Saud deserves to be selected, so I think Azhar will be promoted to open again. Sajid may play instead of Nauman as well as he spins it the other way to Yasir, but I feel the South Africans may struggle more with the ball turning away.
All in all, I'm really excited to see South Africa in Pakistan again. This tour means a lot to us, so we really appreciate them coming over. IA this tour goes without any issues and really paves the way for international cricket returning for good to Pakistan.
