4th Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, 15 - 19 Jan 2021

Yeah which is basically 100% my point. If Khawaja was younger or even if Pucovski was more solid I'd have no problems with him moving around the order, but under the current climate they have to be extremely careful with Pucovski. The gap between his floor and ceiling is arguably higher than any batsman in Australian history.
Exactly. There is no doubt whatsoever that Pucovski is a rare talent, but I do live in fear that they will completely screw him, Hameed style

Not sure if Hameed can be blamed on the ECB tbh. He wasn’t dicked around the batting order at the very least.

This has been such a great series. Lots of twists and turns, close contests, 1-1 with an evenly poised final Test at lunch of Day 4, and most importantly it has ended the Test careers of Joe Burns and Matthew Wade.
Yeah great series. When India put that line up, I thought Aussies will make 600-700. Little did I know how bad burns and wade really are.

We don't really get many targets of note chased down these days do we though?

300 no matter how placid this pitch would still be very difficult considering how good this Aussie bowling line up is.
That's exactly where they struggle though. 300 is within the realm of possibility and only 2 big partnerships away from putting pressure on the bowling.
Alternatively, Green has good enough technique to succeed against quality pace bowling and could slot nicely in to the opening batting position.
Bad idea IMO.

Yeah he was fine in the Tests they picked him in, then just fell into a horrible extended slump in domestic cricket so they (rightly as it turned out) didn't pick him again. Whatever was going on at Yorkshire could've contributed for sure but there's really no evidence to suggest the ECB did anything wrong there.

Green is at 4 (28). Will be good if we can make him stay stagnant and put pressure on Australia's plan.
He definitely seems to be missing a couple of those middle gears to his batting at this stage. He seems to either score very freely or not at all. It was kind of true even at Shield level.

The Hameed comparison was more about the potential results as opposed to the circumstances. With that being said though I have no doubt whatsoever the media gushing over him was a large contributing factor to his struggles
Think Phil Hughes might be a better parallel.

Well didn't India make 340 odd in the last match despite a blockathon in the last 40 odd ? I dont see this pitch is much different. If anything, Aus bowlers are more tired.

I have decided the real reason I want Australia to play:

Khawaja
Warner
Labuschagne
Smith
Pucovski
Green
Paine

Is that it would be by far the most technically correct batting lineup we could field.
