Nah his career wasn't on the line, he got a 30-odd in South Africa so he was locked in for a couple of series at least

I'm not writing SL off here tbh. England still well in the ascendancy but Chandimal ad Mathews will definitely have a point to prove after the 1st innings. SL are a bit like a wounded animal as they can really turn it on when under the pump. Interesting

Seen no more than a few minutes so far as working but great to see Root in the runs again. get the nightwatchman early and pick another up quickly and the game changes dramatically from a good fightback to a struggle to avoid the innings defeat.
