Not sure if he's been mentioned yet.

Andy Bichel - Made his debut in 1997 and ended it in 2003 (2004 if you consider ODIs). Out of the team and dropped for lengthy spells, he only played 19 Tests. He played 9 Tests in 2003, but the rest were all randomly spread out over 6 years. Actually quite good with the bat and ball in my view but never fancied much by selectors.

I wouldn't consider him to be "a guy" though. He was extremely good, too bad the Aussies had such a good bowling lineup that he didn't get regular opportunities. But he did really well whenever he got to play, always looked impressive. I bet most people who watched cricket at the time when he played would remember him.

Also, he bowled really sick leg-cutters.

If Bichel was in any other era he'd be remembered as one of the greats* of the game. I can see why he'd be a guy to those outside Aus though.

*a bit of an exaggeration but he was very good

Alviro Petersen. 36 Tests over 5 years. Ok average of 35. Had a pretty decent run for a while scoring hundreds against Sri Lanka , New Zealand and England in about a year. Perhaps it's just me but when I look back at those scorecards I totally forget he was there. Or even made those runs. Was playing in a line up with Smith,Amla,Kallis and ABDV most of the time. Sometimes Faf and JP. Probably counted towards him not being memorable. Got banned for not reporting an approach from a bookie but I don't even think people remember that about him. Has to be a guy.

I remember it being discussed that he was a bit of a troll player as an opposition fan - almost like the innings proper hadn't really started until he got out, and he'd often meme his way though a session via inside edges and dropped catches.

He stuck it to Boeta Dippenaar being racist though. Pointed out his record is superior in all formats but Boeta still called him a “quota player”.

I thought about him and gave him a quick Google. When did he score 180 against NZ and a 150 against England?? Both away from home. A memory that sticks in my mind about him is how he played Johnson when AUS were here in 2014. At the end of the tour he just started to play as many shots as he could because he didn't back himself to take Johnson and Harris on.

Oh yeah he scored an absolutely revolting century against England in 2012. A big one as well.

He also got a duck at the Oval when everyone else that batted got a hundred and Amla made his triple.
