Batting first is the obvious choice at the Gabba, and even more obvious with the weather forecast.

India's pace attack in 2014/15 Gabba test

Ishant
Umesh
Aaron

Probable in 2020/21
Siraj
Saini
Shardul/Natrajan

Looks to me of similar strength if you consider their form at that time/Present

Difficult to single out a single thing in Brisbane as the ugliest though.
Oh no, that building is the ugliest by unanimous vote. 15 story concrete box that houses nothing but Telstra infrastructure. It doesn't even have windows. Hideous structure.

Honestly the latter looks stronger remembering how bad they were in 14/15, so long as they don't do something really stupid.

I don't think you can blame the BCCI for not having replacements. No one can reasonably anticipate losing all your frontline bowlers, your main all rounder and two batsmen on tour.

Does no one know what India's team for tomorrow looks like? Feels like they're literally going to wait till the toss to announce it. Cricinfo's preview has no idea:

India (possible) 1 Rohit Sharma, 2 Shubman Gill, 3 Cheteshwar Pujara, 4 Ajinkya Rahane (capt), 5 Rishabh Pant, 6 Mayank Agarwal/Wriddhiman Saha, 7 R Ashwin, 8 Kuldeep Yadav, 9 Jasprit Bumrah/Shardul Thakur/T Natarajan, 10 Navdeep Saini, 11 Mohammed Siraj

No point announcing it a day earlier. Given how Ashwin was apparently crawling on his hotel room floor on thr 5th day of SCG test god knows what all might be the ailments tomorrow morning.

Yea so India's batting coach confirmed they'll only announce the XI on the morning of the Test

In the last three Tests of the series, India named their XI before Australia, a day before the match. Going into Brisbane, they don't even know if they will have 11 able bodies. Addressing the pre-match press conference, India's batting coach Vikram Rathour said, though, that the team was not going to make the selection thinking of rain or preserving someone for the England Test series at home, which starts in the first week of February.

"The injuries are still being monitored," Rathour said. "Our medical staff is looking into them, they are working with the players. I won't be in a position to comment exactly how it stands at the moment, we would like to give them as much time as we can. It is only in the morning that you will know which XI will take field."

As a caveat, I've predicted this for every match but I think Australia will dominate this one!
win or lose, I just hope all 22 players have fun. We lose sight of what cricket is sometimes. The way the world is today, what we really need is a feel good ending to what has been an excellent series played in good spirit.

Batting coach Vikram Rathore lol...what a walking wicket he used to be. Remember being excited when they took him to Eng in the mid-90s because he was constantly in the papers scoring bucketfuls at domestix. No footwork to speak of. Wonder what lessons he's imparting to the likes of Shaw and Agarwal.
