Paine and Ashwin interactions

Yeah but you dont want him to do his back or something bowling day in and out on those tracks. I will keep him away from IPL and the counties for the next 2 or 3 years at least and play him as a test specialist. He can have his fill of workload playing the Shield otherwise.
That's true, but those pitches and that environment would be a really good one to hone his skills on some unfamiliar tracks, maybe add more of the nuances to his game that you tend not to come by on those rock-hard WA decks.

Whatever it takes!!!

I am not denying it will help him but maybe he can do that when he is 24 or so. Isn't there a thing about the players', esp. fast bowlers' bodies only growing out properly by 24 and its the age you really tend to finally "know" your body or something?

Cummins said something like that once and since he is a god, I am gonna believe it absolutely.

On the historical spectrum of "mean things said on a cricket field" being called a dickhead with no friends would likely barely register tbh.

One of the weirder comments in fact was Gavaskar's when he claimed that the Australian teams he played against wouldn't have said anything of the sort. Like, really? Lillee et al would never have stooped so low as to call someone a dickhead on-field? Suuuure.
In fairness, I think he was specifically talking about captains and inspite of all appearances, seems Border and Gavaskar got along pretty well.

Yeah, this is well established. At his age his body is actually still growing and "filling out", you can kind of see that in his slightly awkward and lanky physique. The man is going to be imposing when he's about 25 but right now he does look a bit like a giraffe.

Dickhead means nothing and I’m sure Lillee would’ve said it many times.

What Paine said was completely different from a psychological perspective, and not the sort of thing I’ve commonly heard. Basically questioning whether he had any friends at all. I don’t know if there’s elements of truth to it, but it was very specific. I just think that sort of stuff said to someone on the wrong day can really be tragic.

Ash being a really popular player in the team and across India and Paine's entire schtick against India always being "but no one likes you and I have more friends" probably helped Ash laugh it away.
Good.

"I have way more friends than you" is such a weird angle anyway. Who the **** cares about having more friends than someone else after the age of 15?

Seems like Paine is projecting his lack of friends during his teenage years or w/e onto his tired ass sledging game.

What, do you think he was going to walk off and concede the test?

Biggest disappointment in this episode was Ashwin not even knowing Paine averages 45 in India with the stick. Galaxy brain indeed.

I think you're thinking way too much about this whole thing tbh.

Nah, Paine would have rooted his way through his teens. He's a good-looking unit.

How are you fellas able to get out of bed every day thinking like this?

I'll order a couple of these for you if you like, and a set of ear plugs to go with them
