I was talking personally. I am fully cognisant others might view it differently. And I wasn’t downplaying racial abuse at all. Definitely not my intention. Was just saying what would upset me more, personally.

This is nothing tbh, I don't think Paine has really crossed the line.

Only thing that pisses me off is how some of these blokes pretend to be "good guys" after all is said and done. It's a tough and competitive sport, and it gets nasty out there. But being authentic is better than trying to play a character in front of the media, it makes you look really bad when your true nature gets exposed every now and then.

I don't really like how Kohli handles himself on the field, but he is the same off-field. It gets easier to accept his way of doing things because that is what is expected of him, he isn't faking it.

I suppose Red means that an opposition captain saying something like I have more friends in your country than you do can hurt someone's feelings more than a random guy in the crowd calling you a racist slur. I mean, I guess there maybe folks who will be hurt more by the former than the latter but it is obvious what is worse from a normal perspective.

Correct. My point was that if there’s some truth to what Paine says, it’s a pretty hurtful thing to say to a guy (especially while billions of people might be listening). I could see how from a mental health perspective that might really hurt some people. Once again PERSONALLY I’d find that more hurtful than a random drunk dickhead who I don’t know yelling something at me about my appearance.

I think it's very much an individual thing as to what does or doesn't offend you. But whether he was offended or not, Siraj was 100% right to report any racial abuse he heard, or even if he thought he heard and it turned out later he was mistaken. The ICC has for years made it clear it wants players to report that sort of thing, and he absolutely did the right thing.

re the Paine and Ashwin ****, honestly if either of them stood there and swore at each other, does it fundamentally sully their rep or suddenly make them a **** bloke? People lose their rag all the time in sport. If that's as bad as it gets for those two blokes, then they're both extremely level headed.

I don’t think Cave is a piece of garbage at all, nor do I think racism is ok. But it’s fine for you to miss the context of what I was saying completely if it gets you off having your little cabal giving you likes over how clever your little pithy posts are. I don’t care.

I am not intending to do this argument again but a lot of the media did speculate he came from nowhere when he was picked for the A tour to India which is where I first heard of him and I think saw him bat in one game.

In a related thought, I think a county deal similar to the one Marnus had in 2018 should help Head reach the next level as a batsman too. Not saying he will be as good as Labu but he has a lot of attributes to be a very good test batsman and I think playing for a side where you are expected to be the lead batsman and make runs everytime etc., even if it is a lower standard, is something that can really help him as I feel it is that part of his game that needs the most work.

I'd really like Green to do a county tour as well. Both on the batting and the bowling side, he would gain a lot from that.

To be honest as far as I'm concerned this incident is done. Paine lost his cool a bit, he's apologised now, that should really be the end of it.

I'm sure though that that won't satisfy writers who work for the Daily Mail and The Sun, paragons of civic virtue and harmony that they are.

Yeah but you dont want him to do his back or something bowling day in and out on those tracks. I will keep him away from IPL and the counties for the next 2 or 3 years at least and play him as a test specialist. He can have his fill of workload playing the Shield otherwise.

On the historical spectrum of "mean things said on a cricket field" being called a dickhead with no friends would likely barely register tbh.
