Ive probably been on CW for close to a decade now and Mills was definitely overrated when I joined. Heck even on his last legs as TH pointed out most NZ posters on here wanted him in the World Cup team over one of our greatest ever cricketers in Trent Boult

I’m intrigued, do you rate Southee a better ODI bowler than Mills because he had one good game and avoided injuries that coincided with World Cups?

Tredwell was underrated, as was Carberry

Dernbach certainly wasn't

Tredwell was a really good off spinner IMO and I think his bowling style was pretty similar to Washington Sundar's. He didn't do any wild celebrations(like IT) or bowl those magic deliveries that got people excited, but he was pretty useful with his subtle variations and control. He did pretty well in whatever opportunities he got and his numbers are pretty good.

Dernbach had all the tools that you need to be an effective fast bowler, he just didn't know how to use them. He overused his variations instead of being selective according to the conditions/batsmen,etc. I doubt he would repeat the same mistakes that he had made if he is given an opportunity again.

One good game.... Southee made the 2011 tournament team. He’s taken 34 wickets @ 25 during his World Cup career.

I don’t, but that’s not saying much. Southee has never been much of an ODI bowler.

Fair enough...’one good game’ was unfair, I meant more that Southee’s WC career will always be defined by the England game. Was definitely solid (or better than solid) in 2011 with several 3-fors, and fell off a cliff post that England game.

Unlike Mills he actually was discarded during his prime due to genuinely playing his way out of the first XI though, and that has to count against him

Asela Gunaratne?

His 84* of 46 balls against Australia in Geelong is the best T20 innings I've ever seen. Won the game out of nowhere. Plus his bowling was interesting, slow-medium deliveries, mixed with off spin and leg spin, exciting to watch. I guess he was out of the team for a very long time due to injuries, and now he might not get more chances as he is 35. But I think he is a gun player that SL can use for a couple of years.

Dunno. Very much exemplars of the "bits'n'pieces" kinda player England's ODI selectors loved out of any sense of proportion in the mid-late 90s though.

Can also add Matthew Fleming, Dougie Brown, Adam Hollioake and maybe Mark Ealham to their number, although Ealham was probably a bit better than that and had a game more suited to the longer format.

Another NZder to throw in the mix: Paul Wiseman.

So much the archetypal "offie who can bat slightly" he barely seems to register in the memory, but actually managed 25 tests over his years as Vettori's back up.

Wiseman was very much a specialist bowler tbf, just not very good. Classical off spinners action though.

Mehidy goes at less than 5 an over in a harder era for spinners to bowl in IMO. Reckon he has more to him than Razzak who was a very solid limited overs bowler and abysmal test bowler.

well we are talking just ODIs, and it is possible Mehidy ends up with a better career when it's said and done, but Razzak is firmly in that Bangladeshi ODI ATG XI for the time being. If I drop him it would be for someone like Rafique or smth.

Mehidy way better for Tests already tho, no question.

f45 is the biggest scam ive ever heard of. a coworker mentioned going there and it costs 60 bucks a week or month or whatever to do fitness but with music and instagram people. 60 bucks. go outside for a run ffs its free.

honestly if mitch owns one of those he could offer to play ipl for free. he'll never worry for cash again with the constant stream of it coming in from those suckers.
