I feel that one thing which separates Clarke's captaincy with the likes of Paine is that Clarke always had a very good intuitive sense of when to change tactics. I feel like Paine often just lets things go a bit when they're not working. The game drifts occasionally under his leadership. Whereas Clarke's captaincy was always sharp and proactive.
