300 test wickets and the man still gets no love.

By the end of his career you'll all be begging at the throne of that bucktooth man.

I'd have Jamieson at #7 in India - need to have the bowling to take 20 wickets.
no more franklins and doug bracewells. he bowls and bats 8. cant go short on batting away from home. we just have to make strong decisions with the 4 specialists and allrounder.

Fair enough point. I do even wonder with India's strength in fast bowling now whether they might move slightly away from raging turners.

Cantabrians are renowned for a weird obsession with what high school you went to, this whole segment is just perverse pandering to the neuroses of the nation of South Zealand
I never understood this obsession, anywhere. Then again i'm a public school product.

some serious revisionism here from mcmillan. the 90s and 00s cantab side is full of test cricketers who ultimately underdelivered on their talent at test level

I would've played Shadab Khan here but interesting to see how the debutant goes. QeA has thrown up some fun prospects recently and I hope we see a couple more debuts vs SA next month.

Khan is out for a while I think. Cricinfo said he would not even play v South Africa.

Otherwise yeah he should play for sure.

Fleming has a point though, it’s weird in retrospect that NZ domestic cricket in the 90s seemed quite big at times, when in theory it should be a lot bigger now? Is it just a case of NZ generally caring more about internal rivalries back then?

Shell Cup was huge in the mid-90s. Larsen batting with a broken hand in the final, Richard Petrie, Mark Douglas, etc.
Exactly, but doesn’t seem to make sense looking back on it given we were average back then and therefore the depth and standard was surely lower than now?

Yeah but the NPC was also far bigger then than Super Rugby is now. People were probably more passionate about where they lived and they were fewer options for sport and leisure.
