How on earth does Justin Langer keep escaping criticism. When he was the batting coach we continuously collapsed and now he's head coach we've gone for two tests without scoring more than 200 in a single innings. I don't care about the circumstances, Australia has never batted worse and he's the common factor.
Coz after Indian tours , they get Pak and SL to tour them ?

If Umesh isn't available, I would much rather have Natarajan or even Kuldeep come in ahead of Saini. Saini is not even close to ready. Up and down bowler.
I wouldn't play Kuldeep. 3 spinners would be overkill, and I know Siraj performed well, but he's still too early in his career to be part of a 2-man pace attack. It's either Saini or Natranjan.

Saini has the raw talent. If he is picked then the senior players (Rahane, Bumrah, etc) need to be in his ear about where to bowl. If he follows the plans given to him, I think he'll be alright. Has pace, can get swing, and has tasted success for India in limited overs cricket. Probably will need to work in short spells as part of a 5-man attack though.

I like Natranjan. He brings the lefty angle to the attack and seems to have the heart international cricket, but IDK if he's got red-ball skills or the fitness required. Decent FC record tho. Since 2018 he has 37 wickets in 11 FC games (15 bowling innings) for Tamil Nadu at 22.35.

They tried. They failed. Jadeja is good.
I really don't think they did at all. The pitch isn't ragging...he's basically drifting the ball in the same area. Use your feet and hit it straight. This insistence on playing back is very strange and woeful tactics

^Yeah, I like Natarajan as a prospect, but it would be unfair to Saini tbh; pick him in the Test squad and then opt for an unproven "net" bowler? Doesn't feel right. Rahane will just have to use him correctly: second change with a slightly older ball and in short bursts.

oh yeah that's right, i was just remembering ishant.

to be honest, the sort of form and lack of rhythm smith is in at the moment, any good test bowler could pin him down right now. but that could literally last one ball; i've seen a lot of instances of batsman looking horribly out of nick, but they hit a few good shots and the fluency starts to return.

but yeah it was jadeja who gave smith real problems in 2017, and really was the difference between the sides.
Didn't Smith make back to back 100s in ODIs ... there is no lack of form or rhythm. Indians have executed their plans too well

Jadeja thrives on this. He bowls wicket to wicket and attacking him only opens up wicket taking opportunities.

I had seen his original tweet thread on this subject, but it didn't include the graph dating back to 1999. To an extent, it's not anything we don't know. Anyone who says Starc is a specialist against the tail-end is obvious stupid at this point, but it's nice to have a clear video debunking it
I have to say I probably bought into the tail end destroyer narrative a tad - still thought of him as a very good bowler regardless though. Him doing well v top 7 didn't surprise me but I was a tad surprised to see him not far from the average vs the tail end. A nice comparison to Warne too.

The MacGill stats really stood out quite a bit for me on the latter graph!

Yeah Smith looked in peak form during the ODIs so I wasnt expecting this at all. Still think he'll figure things out soon enough but Ashwin has tied him down superbly so far.

As I said, Indians have made him look so

So has Aussies made Pujara look.
oh sure, but that doesn't change my initial point - it's not the precise identity of the bowlers that are pinning him down now, but just that the bowling is good.

he really needs to play straighter.
