2nd Test at the MCG, Melbourne, 26 Dec - 30 Dec 2020

Reminds me of NZ's 2nd test win in England in 2015. Choked in the 1st test (lost after scoring 500+ in the 1st innings) then came back brilliantly to dominate the 2nd. Shame there wasn't a 3rd.

One of India's greatest wins surely. To beat the best cricketing nation in their back yard without Kohli, Rohit, Ishant and Shami not to mention also Pandya and Bhuvi, that ranks right up there.

thats one of the worst performances from a top test side past 10 years. just horrible watching, clueless fielding and batting. 2 marks out of 10 just for some dogged 2nd innings batting only.

Let's see if India are professional enough to be strong in the remaining two tests or self congratulate themselves after one overseas win and take it easy. while India have undoubtedly improved away from home in the last twenty years they have yet to record 2 consecutive wins in Sena countries and have only had one series where they got two test wins.

Aussies will bounce back hard.

How on earth does Justin Langer keep escaping criticism. When he was the batting coach we continuously collapsed and now he's head coach we've gone for two tests without scoring more than 200 in a single innings. I don't care about the circumstances, Australia has never batted worse and he's the common factor.

To be fair, Smith being out of form and not having Warner is like getting jabbed with kryptonite as Clark Kent by an angry bald man.

I blame the cultural review.

Never have I seen a more pitiful effort from an Australian batting lineup. Not even the dark depths of the 80s were as bad as this. Atrocious stuff.

There was a time where the lowest batting average in Australia's top order was 44. Now that would be easily and by a long way one of our best three batsmen.

Rohit lol.
Also to include losing Umesh most of the match as well.

India are a seriously good team now. Pace attack has been excellent so far, Jadeja and Ashwin both bowling well, Jadeja batting well, Rahane and Pujara in the runs. Great to see Siraj and Gill come in and perform right away. Pant was okay, he'll get better hopefully.

Australia's batting is hopeless without Smith and Labu scoring massive runs. Warner's return will be a big plus. 9 days between now and the 3rd test, so plenty of rest for their bowlers. Suspect they'll be unchanged barring a freak injury. Warner in for Head IMO. Drop Wade into the middle order and persevere with Burns.

For India - hopefully Umesh is fit, otherwise I reckon Saini will come in for him. Maybe drop Vihari for Lokesh and Agarwal for Rohit.

Wasn't it like just as bad 2 years ago?
I doubt the Langer era is any worse in terms of batting collapses compared to the Lehmann / Arthur eras.

The scoring rate plummeting seems the most obvious difference. Feel like its been that way since the end of Lehmann era however, around that Ashes series.

Who needs Kohli. Rahane for president.
rahane suits the character of this team much more than kohli imo. i wonder if kohli being so intense and so emotionally over the top actually puts more pressure on the players than is necessary and that makes them a bit more tentative than they need to be sometimes. certainly this is the most tactically disciplined indian performance i've seen in a very long time, maybe since... the last time rahane was stand-in captain, actually.
