*Official* Pakistan in New Zealand 2020/21

Not Terrible
Pakistan will have certainly wanted more but they've really shown the class of a genuine Test nation which the West Indies squad lacked.
They were a team of a few stellar players and a few blokes that might compete at Test level but overall didn't gel well. Pakistan whether more talented or not just show a higher level of tenacity

Reckon that Rizwan runout was the biggest **** up we had today, everything else was just down to really good bowling. He was looking good enough to go on for a while longer, likely cost us 50 runs.

Now all we need to do is bowl the kiwis out for 8 runs and we'll have half a chance.
You'll have to bat four* sessions to save the test, it's tough but doable. The pitch will probably get a little more up-and-down but it's quite slow.

* pending endless discussion on timing of declaration tomorrow afternoon

All things being equal, and considering Pakistan's top order surely can't fail again like they did in the first innings, they should back themselves to draw from here ... but I can't help but think back to the 9 wickets in a session lollapse ...

Er, why not?

Err why would a team put up a better batting effort in the second innings? They've already batted in the absolute best of batting conditions so far, not sure why they should be expected to do better second time round.

There's 2 days left and they're nearly 200 behind, and there are the beginnings of some variable bounce.

I'm saying they should back themselves, not that they'll actually manage it. But I don't think it will be easy for NZ.

@Niall who are you dropping azhar for? im not up with the pakistan scene at all but that's a lot of runs you're dropping and there are guys in the side i'd chop before him.

i liked rizwan in aus and england and geez he was good today. the second most convincing batsman of the game behind kane. faheem surprised me. looks suspect on the front foot tbh but he got results and dragged pakistan to respectability.

If Wags isn't able to play in the second test, who plays in his spot? Lousy timing with the 20/20's happening atm.

Already mad that this would be the perfect opportunity to get Ferguson back in the side, but he's injured.

Last test of the season already, I think Wagner will play despite his broken toe.
