True, at that time Wagner used to leak runs when used as first change and so was often not given the ball until 25 overs or so. He's improved.Yeah this is the type of stuff we really struggled with in the early years of the Boult-Southee era, and even when we had Wagner it felt like S+B didn't really have that relentlessness to eke out wickets like this. But now it feels like it's pretty routine, at least at home.
yeah. Remember when we were so super reliant on swing that any time Wagner would bowl cross seam and put some marks on the ball it felt like he was destroying our chances? Gee those were the days.True, at that time Wagner used to leak runs when used as first change and so was often not given the ball until 25 overs or so. He's improved.
Stating the obvious but Jamieson being able to bowl first-change overs that are both tidy and threatening makes a huge difference too.
And he was doing it as 3rd seamer in Canterbury days. Was getting opening bowler results from 3rd seamer position. Was rated. I had him down as future NZ 3rd seamer.Disagree, he was seen as an excellent prospect due to height, accuracy, outswing and had early success - he's always average 25 odd since starting playing domestic FC.
Early on it looked like he was only bowling 125ks, was always going to be very good if he could get that up to mid 130s.
Starts at 3 for me thoughProbably smarter to go to bed earlier and wake up at 5 imo
