2020/21 New Zealand Domestic Season

I like Spark, but their highlights editor person needs a bit of sharpening up. Finn Allen hits 5 fours in an over and one makes the cut in the highlights package.

Wasn't super impressed by the complete lack of players' individual scores etc during the women's game.

Usually the commentators praise the knowledgable crowd for applauding a 50 before it's announced ... in this case I think Stevenson actually got his cue from the crowd.
I thought it was unusual that the final over was bowled by someone (Harrison) who hadn't bowled earlier in the innings, but the commentators didn't mention this or even who the guy was until after his beamer first ball.

Wellington look to have a handy T20 engine room with Gibson, van Beek and Johns. Also, nice to see Finn Allen show his class at the top of the order.

Are the cheerleaders a new thing at the Super Smash?

Yes the cheerleaders are new. The young South Asian target demo on the YouTube streaming were asked for some input, and their requests were 1) speed radar, speed radar, speed radar and 2) titillatingly quickfire Finn Allen/Tim Seifert/Glenn Phillips knocks 3) Just a little bit of white mischief on the female front.

NZC/Spark were far too budget-conscious for the first, so they'll lay on the second two, despite No. 3 being a slightly uncomfortable political fit.

At least it's not the horns section they had one season that played the Coronation Street theme on a never ending loop.

It also has South African origins and may still be a South African company btw, all the sports-orientated bowling/pitching/serving speeds tech.

NZ rarely rewards the talented South African, unless they absolutely have to.

Good to have another couple of Super Smash games on Duke today and tonight. But jeez, the other teams aren't even close to competing with the Blaze in the women's comp, can they? And they don't even have Devine back at this stage, FFS. It's not very fun to watch.

ND are playing Pakistan A today in a 20/20. Seifert currently 87 not out, just feasting on Pakistan quicks this week. Should draft him in for the second test.

Conway and Neesham some welcome additions to the Wellington XI tonight.
