I actually have less insight for having watched that Fox Cricket Insight with esteemed test skipper Tim Paine

Whatever it takes!!!
@Spark I think you mentioned sometime earlier during this series that the Aussie commentary is so turgid and borderline bogan-ish due to the audience being like that on FTA channels. What is the excuse for Fox Sports?

There isn't one, it's just awful. It's pretty clear they're trying to attract a similar audience, but also they've fallen into "good cricketer = good commentator" trap. Even then, C7's much higher standard is principally down to Ponting who is probably the best commentator going around atm. Brad Hodge last night shows that there's nothing inherently amazing about C7's coverage compared to Fox.

I really really hate that if the umpires feel two raindrops and they aren't playing then they won't restart and won't take the covers off, but they'd just ignore it and play on if they were already playing.

The standard of sports commentary in Oz in general is awful in general. Baffled how a nation so obsessed in sports has such a low standard on its coverage.

If that Starc ball isnt given wide, why do we even have the thing for tests? Wouldnt have hit a 10th set of stumps
i've long since given up trying to work out what actually counts as a wide in tests. in the ashes it felt like there were at least a dozen per innings that could have been called according to the actual written rule

Hodge's ideas last night were revolutionary and knife-edge, thank you very much.

Australia's gotten overly funky recently. I think India taking a lot of wickets in less than conventional positions has influenced things a lot.

Hasn't been the best day from the Aussie bowlers bar Cummins either.

What's the go with Jadeja? If you exclude his Test matches he averages 56.14 in FC cricket (averages 35 in Tests).

Very similar to Keith Miller who has FC average of 53.45 in non-tests, but 37 in Tests.
