Head's a tricky one, classic sort of case where he's a good enough batsman to score runs at FC level but just has too many technical flaws to survive against quality bowling. Flaw I'm skeptical of how fixable it is too.

Can see a point in 10 years or so where bouncers arent allowed tbh
yeah. but if we're going to avoid that it'll be with more regulations like concussion subs, not less. i can see a world soon where you have mandatory temporary subs for, like, 20 minutes when someone gets hit whilst batting.

you know what else would be astounding? a player having permanent brain injury because they got hit again by a bouncer whilst concussed because putting in the sorts of protocols that every professional sporting league is introducing these days is "astounding as far as cricket is concerned".
He can be subbed. No one is saying that he can't be. As a fielder. No one is forcing a player to bat or bowl after the concussion. Players have gone out of matches and got brain scans and opted out. No one is forcing players to play after such injuries. There should be protocols against it. However that doesnt mean a team can have new bowlers or batsmen.

in his defence, his record is legitimately decent for a player at his stage of his career. but yeah he just never really looks convincing when you actually watch him bat, which i'm inclined to weight.

well put. Unfortunately I think we just need to draw a line through him. Would rather give Henriques a proper crack.

How do you feel about the BBL Super Subs initiative

it's almost as if there is realms of experience and research in all professional sporting codes indicating that professional sportsmen will actively resist being substituted out and will lie or minimise concussion related symptoms if they feel their team will be disadvantaged as a result.

i'm going to put it bluntly: your approach belongs in the 90s, not now that we are just beginning to understand things like CTE.

Yeah can we just leave this alone now. It's painful.

Labushagne bizarrely looks more assured since he got sconed imo. Not going so hard at it.

So what do we think is par? With the way the pitch is playing I think Aus would be absolutely delighted with 300, and that would go a long way towards locking India out of the game. Probably be happy with 250?

That's unrelated to the topic of concussion subs..

I don't mind super subs in T20 or odi cricket that much though I don't like it. It's okay experiment away.

This would have been unthinkable two years ago but he’s been much more consistent the past two years. Plus he’s a NSWelshman.

320, even if it seems a bit high now. For some reason I recall a boxing day test in recent history where the pitch looked alright day 1 but inevitably turned into sealed gravel city instead of being like that from the outset.

Yeah I'm actually having that feeling today. MCG has a history of giving the bowlers a bit on the first morning but flattening out nicely on Day 2.

Yeah that's the argument for concussion subs. However, I am not for concussion subs as once the batsmen and bowlers are decided , changing them seems a bit too much .. sorry

Our bouncers have been too short today. Need to learn from Cummins and get them right up there.
