seen enough of vihari to know he's no #3 pup clarke.

id open with rahul or go full meme and give it to jadeja or pant for one test. i don't want to weaken the middle order after the test just gone but i love five bowlers. pant can't catch or bat so he can piss off from having a real job in the team. saha it is.

edit - i don't rate agarwal either. surprised dhawan has fallen so low in recent years to be behind the two overhyped spuds.

the most important game is always the next one. you don't tour your equals to develop players, that's what A cricket and random teams ***** and athlai support are for. jadeja opening is a half serious meme to keep the batting line up deep but get 5 bowlers.

I suppose he has to come in ahead of Rahul, or they drop Vihari. Which would be tough after he was second top score in the second dig :ph34r:

Would be a complete joke, a slap in the face to not just the guys picked for that role in the squad but for all domestic players and the equivalent of flying over a past it RP Singh to England for the last Test because he did well there 5 years ago.

And of course most importantly, it would also be extremely unlikely to actually work. Jadeja's coming back from a concussion and has never actually opened the batting. Good luck to him doing that against the best pace attack in the world who just bowled us out for 36. This isn't T20s where Narine opening the batting can be a thing.

if shaw and agarwal are the best on offer then they all deserve a slap in the face tbh.

realistically it should be rahul and agarwal with the four specialist bowlers and vihari, but if you want the five bowlers then pinch hitter strategy isn't awful.

Except Jaddu is least suited for the pinch hitter role. Will make more sense for Pant to open if that is the thought process.

Never before have I heard 'Pinch Hitter' being used as strategy in a Test match. Jadeja opening against Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood on their home turf lol, one Test in and the Indian fans are broken :)

just a reminder that Jaddu has three 300s in FC cricket an a Test batting average of 47 in the last 2 years. Gill and Agarwal can't boast of the same.

I like the idea of Jadeja opening because if it comes off we have our own version of Jayasuriya (and I don't think he opened in FC cricket until he did it internationally), but realistically if he's going to play they're going to swap out Saha/Vihari for him and Pant.

have a sense of adventure mate. If we listened to guys like you we'd never have Sehwag, Jayasuriya, Sachin opening in ODIs, etc.
