Reminds me of someone on the Basin embankment yelling out to Chris Cairns back in the day, asking what he thought of Wellington ... response was "Ah ... actually I bloody hate the place!"

I hope Southee is destroyed in both of these matches like a bowler never has been before. For the love of god, put an end to him somehow.
Well, so much for that. He’s actually bowled very well today, admittedly in conditions that suit him down to the ground.

Man Southee is such a nasty bowler when the ball is swinging. I wonder if using the pink ball in international LO cricket might help to bring guys like him back into the game.

Hafeez playing a little gem so far, excellent timer of the ball. Been good to watch.

Conway having feet for hands is probably one of the big marks against him. This isn’t the 1970’s anymore where you can hide a terrible fielder

Excellent innings. NZ bowled pretty well overall but he made them pay every time they weren’t on the money.

Good test again for NZ though you’d back them to chase 163.

No surprise we are the worst death bowling side in the world. We are woeful.

I just don’t get how Jamieson goes full and is having success, then drags his length back only to be wacked. I get that variety keeps batsmen guessing but I’ve been pissing on about for years - when you can hit yorkers, and set a field for them, do it more often than not

10 of the 16 runs that hafeez made in runs in that last over from Kyle where off edges, on a different day hafeez would be gone and 10 runs less on the total. Think your overreacting a bit. A lack of a solid death bowler definitely hurts nz but don't think jamieson did a terrible amount wrong today. When fergo is back the death bowling will improve immensely.

Have to agree to disagree. The Yorker/full ball was working, Hafeez had limited options. Then Jamieson went short and gave him more, including the likelihood of runs if he got any amount of bat on it.

The yorker can be scored off, but it forces you to invent, and premeditate, which carries a lot more risk. Short balls have a load of attacking options. I'm with you, why not go for the ball that's hardest to score off ... even if it's a low full toss it's not easy.

Just ask Matthew Sinclair vs Southee.
