Out of curiosity, if you were Kane and regarding those 5 bowlers, how would you rank them in order of preference for the super over?
Think everyone agrees Lockie should have been the 1st choice, but not entirely sure that Boult would have been my second.
Henry bowled very good that day, obviously Neesham would have been a risk....
De Grandhomme? He'd have been a really left wing option!

Henry has had some horror shows at the death, including v WI earlier in the 2019 WC. He was bowling well at Lord's that day, but it would've taken some serious guts to throw him the ball against a well set Stoakes given what Brathwaite had done to him a couple of weeks prior. Likewise for Neesham - always a very hit and miss bowler. The pitch had dried out by close of play, so I'm not sure whether CdG would've been as tricky to face as earlier in the day. I do think that Lockie was really the only bowler who I'd choose ahead of Boult.

Decided to have a look at how teams have done at individual grounds in the IPL so far and here are the results
ABU DHABI
DUBAI
SHARJAH
A few things that intrigued me
* Abu Dhabi hosts some massive games - RCB v KKR and RCB v MI - I presume Delhi have qualified and @varuas's nice simulation suggests so too - if any of the current top 4 don't qualify you'll presume it'll be the loser of that RCB v KKR game.
* Delhi have played 9 games and only lost 2 of them, they both happen to be the only 2 games they've played at Abu Dhabi, given their final 2 games in Abu Dhabi are against 3rd and 4th, the bottom 4 will be hoping that record changes.
* Sunrisers will need Warner and Bairstow in firing form as RCB and MI arguably the 2 worst teams they could have at Sharjah, their remaining 3 games in Dubai look winnable especially if Delhi have already qualified by then and look to experiment.
* Unsurprising but KKR and MI have found a way to win at their 'home' venue Abu Dhabi, RCB and DC have done similarly in Dubai - with more matches in Dubai this year perhaps KKR and MI are at a slight advantage in the group stage playing in Abu Dhabi 8 times in 14 matches with RR the only other team to play more then 4 games (5) in Abu Dhabi.

Are RCB and KKR better then the table suggests? When they've batted first they've both won 80% of their games despite looking ore like the 2 sides most likely to slip out of the top 4. To add to that RCB have a 50% win rate when chasing, only Mumbai better that (and it would be 100% had they won the super over vs RCB). To think if for better results in the Super Over, Mumbai could have lost only 1 game so far and that would've been the opening match, so 8 games in a row they haven't lost in the first 40 overs of cricket.
Delhi have had to chase only twice in the tournament so far! Will be interesting as to whether they choose to chase in their remaining games (if they win the toss) once qualification is mathematically secured. Interesting that CSK, RR and KXIP have all won twice whilst chasing suggesting perhaps a combination of poor choices at the toss to chase and/or bad luck with the toss have impacted them as they've only batted first in 8 matches between them so arguably facing an uphill battle almost from the start.

Yeah it was choosing experience/hierarchy over the guy who was hot that day. Suspect looking back in a couple of years Ferguson will be seen as the better death bowler. At 150k there's always the edge-for-4-or-6 risk but he hits the stumps and the slower ball is coming out great at the moment.
Boult's done pretty well for MI this season, think today was his worst day.

CSK are done and ripe for the picking by Punjab and Rajasthan, the only two teams with a prayer of challenging KKR for no. 4

I actually think KKR can well fall off and maybe even one of the other non DC sides but teams are not raising their standards so far. CSK is pretty much a gone case now, the whole point of packing a side with no #11s is to hit out at some point and yet they keep holding their fire and no one is really sure for what. To keep finishing 5 or 6 down and not getting to the target or a par score is criminal in T20s and I can only assume they have simply given up all hopes.

@h_hurricane - Lol.. amazing isn't it? They never sought replacements for Raina or Harbhajan. They keep playing Jadhav. They have literally no batsmen or allrounders in the hut who are Indian. They kept playing Vijay too. Its amazing but its almost like they didn't care about this IPL at times.
And yet, they were like holding a catch away from beating DC. IPL is just so strange at times.
Chahar has been brilliant with the ball but it is gonna be sad that his dropped catch is probably what knocks CSK out of this tournament. If he holds that catch, Jaddu bowls the 7th over, gets Dhawan second ball and its a whole different game with a hobbling Shreyas and Alex Carey possibly out there batting in the 7th over.

^Do you see Dhoni returning next year? They can big him as a beacon of inspiration all they want, but they look like a team whose collective fire's gone out from under them.

Maybe as some sort of mentor like Sachin with MI, and RR with Warne. Not as a player. If he is really serious about playing the IPL, he has to go and play other leagues like BBL and try to get match fit as well as ensure he can get singles even if he cannot smash boundaries. Otherwise, he should know he is not good enough.

The no. of 35+ aged players CSK have is amazing. At the height of their powers around a decade back they always had young players at their peak.
