Kind of funny how Navas is now a better full back than anyone at City.

Walker is definitely better than Navas, but the overall point is still quite funny. Navas was pretty good at RB for us when Pep played him there tbh.

Just me or does he look like Kevin de Bruyne and Mesut Özil had a lovechild together?

Never really watched him play as a fullback, but my lasting impression of him is that he was to wingers what Clichy was to fullbacks.

He was much worse at wing than Clichy was at full back. I'm still amazed that someone so fast and so good technically could be quite so ineffective.

I thought he was well suited to full back from earlyish on, especially when Silva joined. Maybe he needed to do it in Spain though, where he gets more protection from refs and there are fewer big men to constantly peel onto him at the back post.

I thought this too, brought him into my fantasy team at the end of last season because he looked so good and he racked up loads of points. But then he cost you the Lyon game with a big positional error on the first goal, the same **** he's been pulling in big games for his whole career. Maybe it's worth it, idk, you've won plenty with him in the team. But he's hard to rate.

Fair enough you obviously watch a lot more City than I do, have seen a fair few of their games since the restart but they have tended to be the ones that have not gone so well. I have seen tons of Sevilla since the restart and Navas has been so good pretty much every match.

Oh yeah obviously fans can think players in any position can be rubbish. I actually can't remember a fullback ever being the main figure of hate at Brentford, it is usually a midfielder or a striker. They have had to try pretty hard to manufacture one the last couple of years.

Haha maybe! Would have been years and years ago though. I think it might have been in an argument over how good Sagna was.

I don't think it's true any more. Now everyone is dissatisfied with their full backs because Liverpool and Bayern's make them all look mediocre as ****.

Same with Arsenal really. Have always generally had pretty decent fullbacks. Apart from Clichy obviously.

I think it tends to the case for keepers, certainly in the Championship. Fans seem to think their keepers are awful or they are one best in the league.

I guess in general in the lower leagues you just see so much less of opposition players, the amount of times I see fans say oh I would only take one player from that team or whatever. Brentford fans do it as well.

I think the standard of keepers across teams in the Prem is generally very high. There are barely any keepers who are seriously dodgy/crap (apart from Pickford and Kepa), and not many teams you'd look at and identify the keeper as an area requiring an urgent upgrade etc.

I am old enough that I can probably do a XI of figures of hate from Exeter fans, and have room for a reserve team, partly because of my age, but mainly because our boo boys are just pathetically ridiculously stupid *****, mind you I'd be so happy to hear them booing a perfectly decent hard-working Centre Forward ATM.

Not true at Rangers, there's fans for some reason who don't rate Tavernier despite the fact he's got something like 50 goals and 80 assists in 250 games for the club.

This Lamptey kid looks really good. Superb signing for Brighton and another good player Chelsea have let go on the cheap.
