Root's struggled big time against the Oz attack recently. Last year's Ashes was painful as well.

Root very much to blame for run out and Roy looked in touch needs to score a big one for a change this summer although so far he looks awful but has just hit two fours in a row so maybe his confidence will return

Batsman working hard for their runs against quality bowling in difficult conditions. Sometimes it’s as good to watch as 100 for 0 off the first 15.

They aren't even working hard to survive, seem to be playing shots and missing all the time. Just seems to be a tough surface to judge the pace.

This pitch looks very tough to score on tbh, even allowing for Root being awful atm. Just enough in it off the deck to make life tough. England possibly missed a trick not playing Wood, but it’s the sort of surface otherwise innocuous bowlers like the Currans might get something out of. Rashid going to be very tough on this I suspect

look at that run-out almost created by the keeper taking it in front of the stumps

Yeah I would not put us as favourites to chase any more than 250 given how Aus batsmen typically play Rashid (i.e. very badly)

Fortunately, might not end up needing that many given how this is going.

Great review

Becoming apparent very quickly that England’s WC win last year was a deadset fluke. Very lucky to get away with a tied final against the plucky but just serviceable Kiwis and now at home here against a mob which hasn’t played for six months they look woeful. Any sort of sideways and they bat as well as Australia in India.
