Starc managed to fire it in pretty fiercely at the death despite the groin injury. Was pretty impressed with that.
when did he pick up the injury? Would
Think that’s the last we’ll see of him for the series then. Not worth risking.

wish the better Richardson wasn’t injured. Be handy in these conditions

Bizarre scorecard. So many differing individual strike rates and economy rates.

Can't imagine what the odds of Aus winning without Warner, Finch, Smith or Cummins doing anything of note would have been, but I'm guessing long

Maxi is an ATG ODI player

Sum of his parts type fella

The strike rate will always be high
The fielding will always be A+
The bowling will always be useful

Hes essentially a moderate upgrade on Jonty Rhodes with a touch of Afridi

Would make the ODI ATG XI ahead of Symonds imo

seriously? I've been as big a Maxi fan as they come but he's spent the best part of the last 5 years being pretty **** in ODIs. One good innings doesn't make up for it

fun fact: Since his return to the side in 2017 he's taken 5 wickets at 165 runs apiece.
His fielding is overrated, he's a great outfielder sure but I've seen him drop some absolute sitters recently. He's nowhere near Ponting/Symonds/Rhodes standard.
He fails far more often than he succeeds with the bat, and since the 2015 world cup he rarely scores runs in big games.

He's the type of player that when he makes runs, it's so sensational that people can forget his last 20 to 30 utter failures because he just made 80 off 50 balls.

Think it was at the start of his spell at the death. Was seen limping off to his fielding position. Had just sent in the previous delivery at 150ks which I was baffled by.

The problem with a Maxwell or Afridi is that after you've been in the side for a ****ing decade you shouldn't be playing on potential alone. People assume not playing dumb shots is a minor step such a player needs to take to become dynamite but it just doesn't happen.

Interesting definition of a decade you have there

Maxwell would be on track for ATG status if the second half of his career had followed his first half of his career imo - batting and bowling averages in the mid 30s. however, steve smith stopped using him with the ball and then in past two years, his return to bowling hasn't netted very good results, so he's just been an average batsman with an incredible strike rate for the last 5 years which now makes up a greater half of his career
