Ropt is serviceable enough as sixth bowler IMO, but he's definitely less useful cover when the fifth bowler is another offie.

Is it safe to say that Carey's world cup was just a fluke yet? He's looked like a kid who just picked up a bat for the first time since the WC semi every time he's come out to bat.

nah he’ll be fine

maxwell simultaneously the most stupid batsman ever and someone who never everlooks hurried no matter who he faces. Probably a product of the way he plays, but I can’t really recall him getting out to a ball too good for him. Im sure he has, but he just almost invariably just ****s up

Carey's WC was a fluke just because he did it mostly batting at 7 and consistent success never happens there, except for MSD and Jos, two absolute freaks (who then quickly moved up). that's no insult to Carey, he just had a unique, great run at number 7

Working out if Carey can stick at 5 or 6 is still the way we should go for the next year.

Not really sure of Moeen's value in this team unless he bats well.

Shouldn't be used as a fifth bowler, even a Dawson could probably do that job better atm.

Missing Stokes to shake up this partnership. Bit late for Root and we're having to be miserly with the seamers' overs.

If these two bat for another half an hour we'll probably be chasing 280+ despite the early wickets

I dunno; 5th bowler going for ~a run a ball isn't awful in ODIs nowadays.

I do think maybe a second spinner is overkill with Root's offies in the bank tho, but I don't know that we have a decent seam up batting all rounder available, the excused Sir Benjamin notwithstanding.

Can someone tell me how Moeen Ali is still in this team .His bowling could be bettered by a lot of county bowlers and a lot of them can bat reasonably.His fielding is weak as well.Why was Root not given an over or two
