I *think* Yorkshire need to score 400 (and win the match of course) to force their way into the final, at 200-5 looking a long shot currently.

I think they'd still lose out to whoever won the Somerset Worcestershire game. If that game was a draw however, Yorkshire could sneak in if Derbyshire don't win.

Lancashire doing yorks a favour, 126/0 in their second innings

Looks like a Somerset-Essex final regardless, but it would be very Somerset for a rainstorm to come in and knock them out when they've been the team to beat all season

Someone who understands the bonus points to explain if it's possible for tykes to make the final if Worcs chase it down - 100 internet points available for completion of the task

I don't know which would be more Somerset - that, or finally winning the damn thing in the one year it doesn't count as a CC title.

Somerset v Essex is my favourite county fixture. This time I expect Somerset to win - Essex's batting hasn't fired all season and they've kept pulling rabbits out of the hat thanks to Harmer, I don't think they will do it again. Should still be a good game though.

And yes it is highly amusing that Somerset finally winning a four day competition won't count as a County Championship.

I'll take top of the north group, pretty promising result given all the clearouts over the last two years.

Shame there weren't any semi finals but that's easy for me to say.

I never expected to see a five day County match starting on September 23rd at Lords. If it’s dry it might last two and a bit.

Joe Clarke hitting them nicely again. Hopefully he gets a t20 gig this winter to further his development.

Again though it's hard finding middle order options for England in white ball cricket. Not much cricket played this year in the limited overs formats and weak teams meaning any clean hitters are batting in top 3.

Guys in the long term who might be able to bat in middle order for England? I'll get back to you.

These Somerset kids are good. Conveyor belt of talent seemingly. Good to see Smeed, age 18, getting a game and doing well. Lammonby ,20, has had an excellent season- Two tons as opener in the championship and clean hitting in the middle order in the t20. Banton,21, already in the England setup. The likes of Abell, Bess, Leach, Overtons, Gregory around the England setup. Other promising youngsters who've played england u19s in last few years - Bartlett, Aldridge, Goldsworthy, Green.

Still a good win for Gloucestershire today. T20 side looks pretty decent this year. Lots of depth in the battting, and different options with the ball. Could be the surprise winners this year.

Yeah they are producing an extremely talented bunch, guess the only question is how many will get poached by the richer counties.

Will Smeed and Lammonby sound like dickens characters possibly Tom Abell too. Yeah it's nice but would still like one more experienced bat somewhere, as our batting is hideously flaky.

Max Waller, Dickensian too, wonder if Adil hadn't been around they may have considered him for England in T20.

A lot of the Somerset talent is coming out of Devon to be fair. They also benefit from Millfield, Blundells and Kings churning out the private school cricketers.

Another reason to like Jack Leach incidentally, he went to Richard Huish College which is a bog standard six form state college across the road from Kings, a massive, swanky private school.

Also worked in the Tesco (or whatever it is, UK supermarket chains blur into one to me) alongside the ground, or so the locals told me.

From operating the checkouts in Taunton to cleaning his glasses on live TV. Hard not to like the bloke.
