Yeah under appreciated player. Seemed to get better with age tbh. Was tarred with a reputation post-2005 but was a lot better than that. Good luck to him.

in other news, this was always going to happen:

Something happend at Bristol. Didn't start again after lunch and now says stumps on the scorecard. Isn't rain. Maybe players come down with covid symptons. Don't think it's because of a dangerous pitch. Glos 66-6 at lunch but didn't look particularly bad. Maybe it's the 666.

Apparently it's COVID related

Lancashire with the second team bowling unit there.
Worcestershire with a good chance of being the first team past 200 vs Somerset this season.
Sussex picking a guy who was playing u15s cricket last year.

James Coles eh? Not that cricinfo know his DOB. Apparently he played lots of youth cricket in Oxfordshire; is that where Pickup has been involved, or is he based in the West Country?

Worcestershire vs Somerset looking more like we expected now, with the hosts declining to 183 for 8 from 122 for 1.
Elsewhere, Rory Burns is enjoying not facing Shaheen Afridi.

It was probably condition based but interesting that Somerset didn't trust Leach
Hadn't played a match hardly since last November, 2 he bowled in. Think 8 overs on a seamer what you'd expect TBH, be interesting in the second innings maybe.

Derbyshire inching towards a potentially massive bonus point at Aigburth. Although they've just lost a wicket.

With Essex winning at Chelmsford they will finish on 90 points and win the south group.
Assuming Somerset win (which seems likely) they will finish on 97 points and win the central group. (If they draw they will have 89). If Worcestershire beat Somerset they will have 90 points winning the north group.

Derbyshire need to get to 200, and then win there game to win the north group and get to the final. That would leave them on 91 points. If they finish on 90 points they will win their group but likely not reach the final, because Somerset on 97 and Essex on 90 (who will have won 1 more game than Derbyshire) will be there instead. If Worcestershire though win the central group, there is the possibility that Essex, Worcestershire and Derbyshire will all win their groups and all finish with 90 points- in which case Essex will reach the final( because they have won 4 games to Derby and Worcestershire 3), and Worcestershire will also reach the final on the basis that they would have taken 86 wickets compared to Derbyshire's 75.

... I think having had a look at regulations... although there may well be a mistake in there.

Derbyshire all out for 195, 5 runs short of a potentially vital bonus point.

Means Essex are into the final if my calculations are right. Whoever wins between Worcestershire and Somerset will join them.
