***Official*** English Football Season 2020-21

International Coach
I've been keeping quiet on here about it for a couple of weeks but - Messi?

Power move to stay at Barca?

If not only City, PSG and maybe Utd could afford him. Winning the French league by 20 points can't appeal and battling for a top 4 spot with Utd also not that ***y.

With City, a chance to win an elite league, massive contract and hooking up with Pep.

Not sure the Italians side could afford his wages either? And even if they could are Inter or Juve more desirable than City? Not in 2020.

If messi leaves, he wont want to sign with anyone but City.. Pep, Aguero, and a team that can actually win trophies? And he'd be pretty much the ultimate David Silva upgrade.

Would be nice to see him in EPL fo sho. Looking forward to it. Also looking forward to the ensuing Spanish civil war.

Koeman doing well, in the job a week and he has told Suarez to get lost and Messi has handed in a transfer request.

BARNES OUT
Marcelo Belcher (journo who broke the Neymar to PSG story, tier 1 Barca) has said Messi wants to leave and play for City.

There was some very good info from very reliable people on bluemoon saying this was seriously on for the last few weeks but I didn't allow myself to believe. Man, it can't actually be true can it?

For such a great player, it's weird that he actually has very few realistic options, apart from the money clubs PSG and City.

Hope he signs for Stoke City and finally puts the age old question to rest.
My understanding has been that a cold, wet Wednesday night at Stoke means that you have to play against Stoke, not for them.

Looking at Stoke's home Wednesday night fixtures this year:

  • 21st October vs Barnsley
  • 3rd March vs Swansea City
  • 21st April vs Coventry City

There's significantly less chance of it raining in April than either March or October, so Coventry City is out.

It ends up being slightly colder on average in March than October, but there's a slightly higher chance of rain in October than March. Added to the fact that the end of October is clearly a worse point in the year than the start of March, I think that makes it clear that Messi needs to sign for Barnsley

So with Barcelona possibly losing Messi and Suarez who will they go for as replacements? No doubt spend a fortune on whoever they end up getting. Suppose Memphis Depay is a decent shout being Dutch.

Timing is pretty crucial I think. Not many cash rich clubs out there atm amid the pandemic.
What would you pay for him? I feel like the political pressures force Barca to charge so much that you'd wonder if it's even a good deal for the buying club.

Isn't the scuttlebutt that Messi has a release clause he can unilaterally activate?
