That 5/40 was at Newlands in the New Year test match this year mate.

Jimmy leaking runs is a bit unusual to be honest, he’s been the most expensive quick on show in this test match. He’s bowled some good spells even in this game so it’s probably premature to write him off but, assuming he is rested for the next game, one does wonder if they’d be willing to bring him back in the final test especially if both Broad and Woakes keep taking wickets and the series is still on the line)

I can scarcely believe the amount of moaning I’ve just read despite coming back so strongly to have the opposition 137/8.

This is now perfectly set up for Broad to chase down with a hack 30 odd.

Don’t see how Jimmy is finished. Surely if he’s still bowling 80+mph all day, which he is, shows he’s still got it in him. He’s just short of rhythm isn’t he?

can’t see us getting to 200, but should be moments of hope and excitement if we put a couple of partnerships on.

Man, this game is so interestingly poised. Test cricket continues to deliver. Love these 250-odd 4th innings chases, you always feel you could be about to witness something special. It's pretty important for Pakistan to get that extra 20 odd runs from here which could give them a security buffer and a chance to use the 2nd new ball.

Lot of pressure on sibley and burns, both threw away there wickets in the first innings. If they can blunt the new ball and give root and co a solid platform England have a decent chance.

England should go with this batting order in the 4th innings:

Burns
Woakes
Sibley
Buttler
Root
Pope
Stokes
Bess
Broad
Anderson
Archer

Can kinda see Harsh's point.. wanting to keep your best batsmen away from the Abbas new ball spell (and the inevitable couple of wickets) but teams will never try out stunts like this because the risk of it backfiring and losing your job is too high.

Woakes has good defensive technique, but can't play hostile short pitched bowling, which is not something he has to worry about against Abbas. The other two are limpets who won't score too many or fast, but they could do the job of blunting the new ball attack.

That batting order gets the best out of every batsman imo. Except for Woakes, who is a sacrifice.
