Was referring to Australia/New Zealand (more Australia). South Africa and the West Indies have weak enough batting lineups and are bowler-friendly enough that having a medium pacer as the 3rd quick is far from a liability, whereas Asia seems ripe for two spinners.
I know Coad was mentioned earlier but his team mate Fisher looked a really good prospect in the Under 19's days and is in the side now. Clearly fitness issues are a concern but if he still has the ability he is young enough to still be a very good player.

Whatever it takes!!!
Still think Shaheen needs to do more work to be a threat. He is just another Amir at this point, who looks good, picks up 1 or 2 but the match winning haul or the run through the side spell won't quite happen yet.

With Naseem, he is much more raw than Shaheen but he also seems to get it a little bit mentally. His reaction to Pope's dismissal was far more pumped up than what I thought he was doing yesterday but he is young and in his first year, it can happen. Kohli does it even today, as long as they know how to control and manage that kind of emotion, it should be fine.

If we're looking ahead to 2021/22, I agree that Anderson is probably gone by then. I know that Jimmy has said he plans on playing there, but I think he's being over-optimistic. Broad should be OK. Archer should be there. Then depends on who's fit and in form in 16 months time. I haven't seen enough of Stone; 91JMay will know far more about him than me, but his fitness is obviously a concern.

Just seen the Pope wicket. That was great cricket. And credit to Pope for trying to play with soft hands but the ball was too good.

Yasir has bowled genuine dross so far. Root wicket wasn't even a good bowl. Bowled a couple of rippers and then filth. Always liable to take a wicket though.

Never write off the English tail
Maybe, but I'm not sure that Broad will be successful playing your quicks from somewhere near the square leg umpire and Archer's done naff all with the bat since coming into the team. It's down to these two and Bess to get us anywhere near the Pakistan score.

I missed the Pope wicket, and when checking the scorecard I saw the headline about Archer saying it being 'not a wicket to bend your back on'. Ah, maybe to you.
next ashes will be interesting. they're gonna be motorways but everyone will be watching this time, so he won't be allowed to skim along the deck at 128kph

It was especially funny as it was quite a contrast with the apparent fact that Naseem had got the wicket by putting in that bit extra.

I have no doubt that he'll fire up and be back to bowling rockets next time he sees Smith though. Same way that Broad usually seems to step up against us.

Just saw that replay of Yasir bowling a delivery with quite a bit of top spin. Why didn't you try that in Australia you dickhead? (still bowling the wrong pace though).

he will initially, but we know broad sticks in even facing down the barrel of 5 zip. will archer? because it's gonna be 5 zip. better english sides than this have suffered the indignity.

Great session's play, and Buttler's done really well. Pakistan still well on top of course.
